grzessnik got a reaction from Burny in GREP find/replace
Definitely find/replace with GREP is must have for me to work with i.e. books. I can't even imagine to typeset 400 or 500 pages without this feature. It is like ten years step back for me comparing to InDesign (I still use CS6 but GREP works great is is real lifesaver).

Patrick, could you tell us if you plan to add GREP (e.g. like the one in InDesign or JavaScript) to Publisher. It is a very important question for all potential Polish and Czech users of Publisher. In these two languages there is something which is called "orphans". The "orphans" are individual letters or digits at the end of the line of a text (see the included picture). It is a typographic error in Polish and Czech language. Adobe never implemented any option in their paragraph composer for removing the errors. But thanks to GREP one line of a code resolves the whole problem in InDesign. It is no problem if you work on a several-page document, but if you have to remove "orphans" in 500-pages book manually it becomes a very tedious work. Regular Expressions are a very useful magic programming tool.
Please, make GREP one of your priorities... or add an option in paragraph composer for removing "orphans."
The second thing very essential for many languages is support for Hunspell. The support for Hunspell will provide the spelling check and correct hyphenation in the languages (Polish, Hungarian etc.)
Great thanks for the Beta.

Hi all, nice to meet you. I'm Greg, graphic designer. I was desktop publishing instructor for ten years. I usually work with Adobe CS6 but I think AD will become one of my tools.

grzessnik got a reaction from cornishninja in Grain/Noise effect
Yes, I think this is great feature but noise size is still one size (density is changing but size remains the same). But what I'm thinking about is grain effect more like in analog film (different grain sizes and types).
If it is unclear I'll try to explain it better. -

Hi,
Is there a chance to add Grain to effects? I think about something like diffuse layer mode (it would be great too) but more customizable (i.e. size, density, shape, regularity etc.)
Best,
Greg

Hi all,
here is my first AD drawing.
It was very interesting experience and after few different approaches drawing is complete.

grzessnik reacted to retrograde in Remove anchor points?
Not sure if you're asking for a visual solution to "hiding" points or actual removal of points...
To hide points and paths on a selected object just press the spacebar, it toggles the viewing of these things... on or off. Handy when applying effects.
To remove points, yes, a robust simplify path feature is needed especially after expanding a stroke or any boolean operation.
Illustrator has a simplify path feature as well as a couple "astute" plugins that allow you to interactively remove points without changing the overall shape... something like that built in to AD would be a great addition and would go a long way to attracting serious path pushers...

It is a nice style, I like the splash of red, too, which 'fixes' it.

This is great. It has a nice overall mood feel with the rough sprays and shadow/lighting... beware the wide shouldered man with the little feet...

grzessnik reacted to rui_mac in Why, on why do people want everything?
From many, many questions/doubts that I read on the forum, it seems that too many people are asking for stuff that is related to bitmap editing applications.
Affinity Designer is a VECTOR application!!! It already does more stuff related with bitmaps work that what I would expect.
Just wait for the true bitmap editing application (Affinity Photo).
If you want a do-it-all application, that does vector, bitmaps, text, audio, video, web, gardening, carpentry, cooking and household tasks, don't expect it from an application that is under the $50 price tag.
Affinity already does much, much more than it is expected from an application of this price range.
Ok, I just had to vent out this... carry on, have a nice weekend ;-)

rui_mac, agree. Global swatches are most important for me too. I can't imagine working on drawing without them.

I agree with the last 2 or 3 posts. The current setup is great for colour only, but an effect that can be applied to individual objects or across many objects or the whole piece in one go and with different parameter settings (size, density, type, etc...) would be the holy grail that would certainly add major kudos to AFD as a heavyweight illustration tool. Even now if we had the ability to add a noise effect to the whole piece without opening it up in a photo editing app would be awesome. If this is possible now I'd appreciate someone pointing it out. Thanks!
EDIT- I just tried the click on the opacity colour circle to get to the noise aspect of one of the points on my gradient and was able to adjust noise in the gradient as told above, so that's cool. A bit buried but nice to discover!
:) - and just so you know a lot of us art types don't necessarily read help files or manuals, it's a disgraceful character flaw I know but what can we do... ;)

A picture of what you would like to achieve would be great. We can then use that as a reference when we look to add features.

grzessnik got a reaction from Mialo in Align on multiple node selection?
Can you please add align to key object? I mean when you select two or more objects, click one of them and the rest will align to selected.
