  1. When I open a PDF file in AD on Windows, missing fonts are listed in a PDF Options dialog like the attached. There is no obvious reason for the default choice of replacement font family, and it doesn't seem to matter whether the 'Replace missing fonts' checkbox is checked or not: when the document finishes loading, each missing font is replaced rather than substituted (i.e. when I select a text object, I see the replacement font name instead of something like '? StratoProDemiBold' in the dropdown box). I can't find a way to return to the missing fonts list to edit the replacements without closing and reopening the document.
  2. DrawPlus has had text flow for years. Even CraftArtist includes text flow! This should at least be on the roadmap for Affinity Designer.
  3. If you go to the index page to view the list of subforums in this Affinity Support forum, I think you might agree that an old thread in the 'News and Information' subforum is not the best place to post a question or a bug report.
  4. Me too neither! It does indeed work very well, but I don't understand why it's hidden by default.
  5. I can't see a way to 'n-up' a small document such as a business card onto a larger sheet. I think we just have to choose the sheet size as the publication size, create the BC design in the top left-hand corner and then replicate it to produce the other nine copies. The 'power duplicate' feature makes the last step pretty painless. I agree about minimizing the Help window.
  6. Leaving it with none is probably a better option than changing the access key for Print to something less obvious than P. Most users who prefer keyboard shortcuts will quickly get used to bypassing the 'File > Personas' submenu, going straight to the Alt key combinations for switching from one persona to another (although it isn't immediately apparent to me why the default accelerator for the Draw persona is Alt+R instead of Alt+D).
  7. Thanks, Mark. I was assuming that the Windows version would come several months after the OS X one.
  8. 1) It's already there, but it isn't shown by default. Please see the attached screenshot. 2) What would the 'Scale' value be relative to? 3) As far as I can see, it reappears in the same position when you reselect the object after deselecting it. You can double-click it to return it to the centre of the bounding box.
  9. PDF has supported layers for very many years. Acrobat has supported layers since version 6, and version 9 introduced the ability to add new layers (instead of requiring the use of a separate authoring program).
  10. Is the Publisher public beta still on course to be available by the end of the year? That sounds like an awful lot to cram into the next six months!
  11. Thanks, Ash. I don't have a Mac, and I haven't seen any reference to the use of the Ctrl key while dragging out a marquee. The Affinity Designer on Windows Help says this: The backslash key actually toggles 'Clip to Canvas' mode. As far as I can see, the only way to enable the 'when intersects' selection behaviour is via the checkbox under 'Preferences > Tools'; I can't find a way of invoking this behaviour on the fly.
  12. Here you go, Sean. I'm running Windows 8.1 at a (bog standard mass-market laptop!) screen resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, with the default 'Smaller' (100%) display setting. By the way, I got to that dialog by clicking on the gearwheel icon against '3D' on the Effects tab. When I hover over that icon, a 'Blend Ranges' tooltip is displayed.
  13. PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-3 only allow flattened transparency. PDF/X-4 allows live (unflattened) transparency.
  14. After opening a saved file and making extensive changes, I chose 'Save As...' so that I could keep both the original document and the modified version. I expected to be offered the original folder by default, but instead I was offered a downloads folder from where I had previously loaded a .afbrushes file.
  15. How do you define "reasonable", Paolo? What you and I consider to be reasonable may be "deep" or "shallow" to other users. Many lawyers owe their comfortable standard of living to the existence of the word "reasonable"!
  16. The Ctrl key works exactly as I would expect. In the list of objects in the Layers panel, you can Ctrl-click to select or deselect non-contiguous items just as you would in any other list such as a list of files in a dialog or an Explorer window. On the page or the pasteboard, the Ctrl key is used to select an object in a group (or in a compound object) so if you want to select multiple objects you have to use the Shift key instead.
  17. My Windows 8.1 laptop has a bog-standard screen size of 1366 by 768 pixels, and my display setting is the equally standard 'Smaller' (100%), but although I can see the row of 'Light source' controls in its entirety I can only see half of the Azimuth control (and the top edge of a circle which I presume to be an Angle dial).
  18. Can you attach an SVG file? With nothing but a screenshot, it's all going to be complete guesswork.
  19. What's the fill colour set to, Rosie? I was getting a predominantly green result with that brush, even with the base colour set to orange, but by choosing another colour from the Swatches panel I can get variations which have little or no green in them. P.S. The controller for 'Hue Jitter' (on the Dynamics tab in the Brush Editor dialog) is set to 'Random' by default, but you can change the controller or turn it off altogether if you prefer.
  20. Hiding extensions by default for known file types has to rank as one of the daftest decisions Microsoft ever made!
  21. The current icons depict the correct options and are labelled correctly, as far as I can see. By the way, PNG is a better choice of format for posting screenshots. Most web browsers can't display TIFFs directly, and a compressed PNG of (part of) a dialog also usually has a smaller file size than its JPEG or TIFF equivalent.
  22. Thanks, Miguel. I've just returned to this thread after finding the crop thumbnail in the Layers panel, at which point it was pretty obvious that I simply needed to click on it and press the Delete key.
  23. The corner and edge handles work OK for me, but how do you remove the crop? The Context toolbar is empty when I activate the Vector Crop Tool.
  24. Thanks again. I didn't see the other requests, and I couldn't find it on your 'Common Feature Requests' list.
