That link goes directly to the US English page. If you want to visit (say) the German page, you need to substitute de.lproj for en-US.lproj in the quoted URL. This is in stark contrast to Affinity Store links such as https://store.serif.com/help/#returns where the appropriate language code is inserted automagically. In any case, there are only help pages for the supported languages, so there is no Dutch version.

I don’t know whether it’s possible to permit printing of a password-protected PDF file, but if it is then I don’t see how you could prevent printing to a PDF printer driver. That would, of course, result in the creation of a PDF file that isn’t password-protected, which rather defeats the object of the exercise.

Refine x128 upscaled image
Alfred replied to davide445's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
That’s a total of ×64, not ×128. It probably doesn’t make much (if any) difference, but was there any particular reason for the uneven steps? It seems more natural to do ×8 twice. -
Thanks. I probably saw it there when I first visited the thread, but that was way too long ago now!

Honk ‘Shadow Length’ (SHLN) doesn’t work. It should be able to do what you see in the GIF near the top of this page (see the latter part of the animation):

I wasn’t looking in the right place! You need to go to ‘Text Studio > Character > Variations’.

You’re welcome! And yes, they’re all free. https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq

It works to get the typeface installed, but all I see here is a choice of individual weights/styles. There’s no UI for the VF axes.

I’ve just tried again with AnyFont. It responded with the following message:

I don’t think there is another way at the moment. I got the same message from iFont when I tried to install Inter earlier this evening.

One could argue that it is actually an Affinity issue. The controls for OpenType ‘registered’ axes such as wght, wdth, and opsz are labelled with human-readable names — Weight, Width, and OpticalSize, respectively, for the above examples — so ‘foundry-defined’ axes (identified by uppercase letters) should be treated the same way, wherever practicable.

Typography Dialog turned into a Panel

They’re also too close together. Each of the ß and À characters in that screenshot collides with the characters in the line immediately above. -
Not necessarily. The way Adobe seems to do things is that you can reactivate your subscription as and when the need arises, so that instead of paying for a whole year you can pay for just a month or two. The cost per month will be higher, of course, but the overall cost will be significantly lower than it would be for a largely unused annual subscription.
