MikelMats reacted to Beaty1961 in Isometric 'Tool Set'?
Hello there, and first let me explain that I am an Affinity Designer 'Noob' so forgive me if my suggestion is naive! (Be gentle with me LOL)...
Isometrics seem such a popular design/illustration function and certainly (most sorry to mention the 'opposition') Procreate seems to be motoring ahead with adding additional isometric functionality... So I wonder if an Isometric projection tool set is concievable?
I used to have a third party gadget for Adobe Illustrator that did this, a small pallet that automated the traditional '86%/30o/-30o' (etc...) projection, with a button for left, right and top projections.

    Affinity Online Help
Hello all, we're happy to be able to offer you an online version of the in-app help!
Access Designer, Photo & Publisher Help here: https://affinity.help
Here are some of the additional features we're able to implement as a result of having proper browser support:
Dynamic language switching: The help will determine your language and (if it's available) serve you a localised copy of the help. If you prefer to read in another language, however, you'll find a combo box at the bottom left which will enable you to change languages—and stay on the page you're currently reading. Print: Sounds simple, but with full browser support we can now implement printing of the topic pages. The print icon in the bottom left will give you a nicely formatted printout of the current topic. Share: Clicking the clipboard icon will copy the current topic's URL to your clipboard, which means you can easily point other people towards topics that may help them. Responsive: The help was responsive anyway, including off-canvas menu functionality so you could collapse the window and still read a topic, but this is taken further in this version of the help. The help is formatted nicely and usable even on a 4" iPhone SE screen. Search: we've implemented our own bespoke search for the online help which is fast and accurate. Access it via the tab system along the top left. Favourites: you can add topics to your favourites list to easily access them during future browser sessions. Simply click the + (plus) icon next to the "Favourites" tab to add the current topic.
With this online version you'll be able to print out topics and view them on your tablets/phones, which are two of the most common requests when it comes to help feedback.
As always, if you have any feedback or find any issues with this online version, please let us know! Hope you find it useful.

The illustration looks fine to me, but without comparison to the genuine article, the level of accuracy can not be determined.

    Hello everyone,
From today i believe i have to start sharing few of our design works (actually i'm working alone but i do build a team from time to time depending on project size )
Most of our client/requesters are Church based and we really enjoy doing stuffs for them but what you will se here is more about Smarty Studio standing with other studio/teams together into what is to become Congolese Design Style.
Well each country have it's own style of design but Congo doesn't have a proper thus most of Congolese designers simply clone/copy styles from everywhere.
This is a beginning, please your inputs on each design palet/kit will be of great help and will help us improving better.

    Blessings !

MikelMats reacted to Renzatic in Hand Painted Textures
Learning how to do hand painted textures is something I've been wanting to do for a long, long while now. I like the style, I like the look, I think it's quite neat. Thing is, I've always put off trying it out for myself because I know next to nothing about digital painting. I know quite about about manipulating photos to make textures, and a goodly bit about modeling them in a 3D editor, but painted textures are something I figured would always be just out of my reach.
Then I realized that the only reason why I don't know how to do it is because I've never tried it. That the only thing between me and success is a good bit of practice.
So here I am. Last Thursday, I decided to do one texture a day for the next month to see how I take to it. I've crammed a few hours of tutorials on Youtube, inspected other people's works, and just studied the hell out of it. Minus some stumbles here and there, I can already see a slight improvement just after a week with it. It started out with my admitted janky first texture, and has come to today, with a grass texture that's actually surprisingly good.
This thread will act as my diary, detailing my journey from totes noobis, to maybe hopefully pretty decent. If anyone wants to add or critique what I've done, feel more than free. I'm always up for some tips, tricks, and a bit of harsh, but honest criticism.
(FYI, these images are scaled down from their original size)
Day 1. My first attempt. It is, like I said, kinda janky. To my credit, at least you can tell what it is.

Day 2. Another stone floor. Probably the one texture I spent the longest time with. Trying to get the shading just right.

Day 3. A wood floor. This one was, eh...okay. It's a little flat and plain, kinda rough, but hey. Just my third day.

Day 4. Wooden roof shingles. This is where I felt like I was starting to get a slight feel for things. It's still pretty sloppy, and you can see a few areas where I guffed up, but it's not bad.

Day 5. Stone tiles. My least favorite of the bunch, and the one I spent the least amount of effort on, truth be told. I tried to do something in a celshaded style. Ended up just looking bland.

Day 6. My 2nd attempt at a wood floor. It's certainly better than my first, with some actual texture and depth to it.

Day 7. Grass. Dunno if I'm improving, or if the stars happened to align just right on this one. It's the first texture I've done that I'd consider actually decent. Though if you look at it closely, you can see how I cheated things a bit.

And there you have it. My work so far. From here on out, I'll be posting one a day. Like I said, if anyone here wants to throw in their 2 cents, you're more than welcome.

We've had a query about what is viewed as 'acceptable' content, and what our stance on it is.

This topic is one which is typically fairly volatile because everyone is so different and what is acceptable for one person, can be shocking or inflammatory to another. We don't want everyone to feel cautious about what they click, just in case they are faced with something they'd rather not see, but we also don't want to discourage people from sharing the amazing work they've been creating, so... We think the simplest, clearest thing to do is:

If you think your image could in any way be described as controversial...

    - Start a new topic with an appropriate title
    - Upload your image to a sharing site (Flickr, Behance, Instagram, etc) - you can even use the 'Share' link in the app's File menu
    - Write a proper description of your work in the body of your post and add a text link to the image you have shared

Now, if people think they'd be offended, they just don't have to click the link and they won't see it at all.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi all,

I'm Patrick, illustrator currently working in the field with mostly Adobe (and CorelDraw which I admit I've come to enjoy working in more than Illustrator), but been using Affinity on a lot of personal work since I love the simplicity in its design. Still hoping for more in future.  I will try my best to answer questions here on the forum when I can and keep an eye out for new ones

Hi, I'm Nigel Crooks, I live in Settle, North Yorkshire, England. I bought Affinity Photo almost two years ago and on first opening felt very intimidated by it even though I was familiar with Photoshop and Lightroom, ON1 Photo RAW and Capture One Pro. But now that I've retired and have more time to follow my hobby I'm starting to get familiar with Affinity Photo. It has become my number one must learn even though I'm finding it tough going. I'll master it eventually.
