The Frame Text Tool (with Pages) needed improved layout guides or at least an object to guide feature from the beginning. Will there be a guides layer?

It was not a great job to change the launch of Affinity Publisher a few times without explanations.

Perhaps 2017 we get something like “Create Guides” together with Affinity Publisher; hopefully an “Object to Guide” comes sooner. Seems not many users are missing those feature … :-(

Yes, but not good enough to make it quicker than in other apps or to replace a better knife tool. Quicker way without the need to change to the move tool: click (to add a new node in the segment), break curve, marquee (the new nodes or more), delete or: just add a new node, break curve, select, delete, select, delete @ jkehoe: already using ESC (key) 4 deselecting? @ Gary: with the Crescent Tool it is possible to create an arc very quickly by dragging one curve over the other (yes it is closed)

No, only if you purchase it from Apple. Serif already has a range of applications for Windows and it was a good decision to write the best apps for design and photo for people who work with Apple and WACOM products.

Affinity Apps werden für Profi-Gestalter beworben; man heult entsprechend auf hohem Niveau; bei vielen im Forum gezeigten grafischen Ergüsse muss man sich hier allerdings gänzlich zurückhalten, schließlich sind die Programme dank ihrer Minipreise massentauglich und viele Käufer glauben, ein Programm ersetze grafisches Wissen oder Talent. Warum bereits im Winter die Werbemittel unter Zeitnot erstellt werden müssen und die grafische Qualität dadurch leiden muss, ist aus der Ferne nicht nachvollziehbar. Grafische Laien erkennen nur im Varianten-Vergleich sehr schnell und genau, was besser/schöner wirkt. Würde man Pierres Plakat neben Ihres legen, wären die Votes eindeutig. Deshalb ist die Variantenerstellung durch die Schüttellayoutmethode (manche Programme bieten dieses Feature übrigens an) praktisch, wenn man wenig von Wahrnehmungspsychologie, Harmonie, Typografie etc. versteht. Fachbegriffe wie Briefing und Zeichenausgleich sind zwar sehr gut im Internet erklärt, werden allerdings zu wenig von grafischen Laien genutzt. Wenn das Gesamtkonzept vorschreibt, die Seifenkisten im Stil der 20er bis 40er zu gestalten, macht es natürlich Sinn, auch die Werbemedien mit Art-Deko-Headlines zu versehen. Allerdings sollte dann auch das übrige Plakat entsprechend gestaltet sein. fixer = schneller (Scribble ist eine Entwurfstechnik) Vernünftig ist die Abfolge: Analyse, Konzept, Entwurf, Reinzeichnung. Durch Computereinsatz wird die Abfolge (wie hier) zu oft selbst bei kommerziellen Projekten umgekehrt. HTH, gutes Wetter, viel Erfolg und Spaß. PS: Wie sieht denn das Konzept aus, hat sich das Sonntags-Layout grundsätzlich (Proportionen/Farben) verändert? Wurde an randabfallenden Aufbau gedacht? Einfach früher nachfragen / als Wettbewerbsprojekt an Gestaltungshochschulen einreichen.

Hi, Christophe. We think you are searching a tracing tool (right?) which is a Common Feature Request and will not be added soon (just pixel selection to vector shape). Sorry, you have to do this with other apps and import the shape.

If it happens again, try to ALT CLICK into the ruler area (followed by an undo). Perhaps this resets the issue. BTW: The cursor of the Tools does not change in the rulers area. Some tools (like Frame Text) surprisingly work in the rulers area. Perhaps this (an “if than” thingy in wrong line of code?) is the reason for the guide issue.

AP and AD are already too cheep.

Auch wenn das Briefing unklar ist, eine fette echte Handschrift passt besser. Wir haben uns nicht verstanden: Zeichenausgleich: NK zu eng; was sind denn SPEK oder TAKEL?! Mikrotypo auf Plakaten ist wichtig, aber der Gesamtentwurf ist am wichtigsten. Tipp: Um ein Gespür für ideale Kompositionen zu bekommen: Schüttellayout: Die einzelnen Elemente (Headline, Fahrzeuge, Kirche, Kurve) in Größe, Farbe und Lage variieren. Beim Vergleich (Hausfrauentest) fällt schnell der Favorit auf. Fixer sind Briefmarkenscribbles.

Die Zeichen sind beispielsweise schlecht ausgeglichen, weisen keine einheitlichen Strichstärken auf, … die Schrift hat nichts mit den 30ern zu tun, deshalb zwei Beispiele: Es ist natürlich unmöglich, hier ein Gestaltungs-Studium nachzuholen. »1936« ist beispielsweise auch nicht gut ausgeglichen, aber schön wäre, wenn die Wischer (überspitzt ausgedrückt) weniger tot-einheitlich, die Räder perspektivisch korrekter (v. re. ist z. B. fast identisch mit hi. li.), das Lenkrad übertrieben unförmiger oder symmetrischer wäre, … Das Trier-Cover von 1929 ist noch wie die CH-Plakate handmade und lebt dadurch. Kein Strich ist Klon eines anderen. Würde ja sehr gut zu Deinem Thema passen (handgestrickte Seifenkisten). Es ist wirklich schade, dass AD noch keine KI für Design eingebaut hat. Oder zumindest Zufall oder Fraktale.

Bitte, bitte, quarki69, zumindest die Schrift verbessern.

And have you also heard/read that needed features like multiline composition will be missing?! :(

misunderstood, so three examples: • explaining words in Affinity Help that are not explained there (like introducing “hintline” as a key feature at the beginning, without explaining it later or directly) • complete explanations (for example the “Interface Visual Reference” is really very incomplete) • adequate care (for example: translation)

Important: consistent terminology, clearly described by Serif, not by M$ or wikipedia. If people ask, “what do you call …”, Serif should improve the Affinity Help, not only write a manual.

Thanks, Serif gets more time if things (words, pictures, procedures, …) are really explained and people must not ask here and by email, because the Affinity Help is not clear/usable enough. It is like the first museum visit. If you do not have the floor plans (only parts of the orientation system, not the overview), you do not get quick where you want. There is enough place on the smallest screens. OK, everything is difficult if you do not know how to do it didactically.

Perhaps Affinity Help is “underused” because things could be described better. Like the unexplained Hintline. People who do not know what/where the Status bar is, cannot find it in that Visual Reference (which is in great need of improvement). The word “Status bar” is not visualized. A visual reference should label all items and should be shown/linked at the beginning, not hided somewhere. double = press twice, not once

We believe “Hintline” is not explained in Affinity Help and not a used word there: “Status bar: The status bar at the bottom of the active document view provides useful information such as hints and shortcuts for the current tool or operation.” :( -1 The “Status bar” is not visualized in the “Interface Visual Reference”?! :( This is why even professionals are asking here and why we want a reference and overview screen with a short (visual) explanation of the UI. :) Please, Sean.
