[Resource Manager not able to locate missing resources]

By the way..

A had a comparable Issu.  I had a longer Document with about 100 Images as linked...  then i copied together witht the footage folder to a new location, and of course,  next time i found that the footage couldnt be found...

So i used the ressourcemanager. 

But !  i had to relocate all single images, one after the other in the new folder...      I Would expect the software to be intelligent enough, to ask if it sould relink all the images to the new folder.
 

Will serif add this feature ?     it s a usual day to day problem, that will apear for many users very very often....   also... i would suggest a ....    copy all footage to the following folder option...

And yeah, any pro changes the shortcuts. Heck, my boss, last company, she was in charge of the marketing department, made a lot of stuff herself, but certainly not a pro in image editing. Not even close. Yet she'd change her shortcuts in any program that would worth it to do so. I'm not saying everyone must do the thing I do of even having X-Mouse Button Control to even "hack" the situation, and make each app behave with my own set of shortcuts+mouse action, but setting your own preferences in an app ? Pretty basic stuff, imo... I wouldn't call that exclusive "pro knowledge"... Pro would be knowing very well how to prepare a file for print, or advanced retouching, etc.

I solved the brush "B" issue long ago, in preferences. The "not remembering settings" is a slow down, I recon it, it has less of a solution, but definitely (in pro activities, even), not a full show stopper. (one of the cases of : You get a lot more in the positive plate, to compensate)

Maybe my english isnt good enough..  But i Won´t try this thread in german speech now..   Well.

Of course, Affinity Products are highly Professional..    What i tried to tell is, that in My Company, most People will use the product aside the fact that they as architects are by far less Professional thinking of this category of software, as People who earn their dayly money with it.  I am sure ..   there are by far more People of this category, who use the programm, aside of their usual dayly work.   If for them the Programm is intuitiv and easy, also for the professionals it will be... 

And in the case of the brush-cycle shortcuts..  I think everyone would profit from another usability.

[Nested Masters ! A Bug ?]

I Tried to nest a Masterpage with some guides into the secound Masterpage, to ease some of the workflow..    Now the Guides alone of the first Master doesnt appear as expected as dotted points on the secound master..  

Is this a Bug ?  Or did i miss something.. ?

ah...   allright..  i see   ..      there are even further limitations in the aktual build...      so..  its not on my top priority but would be an improvement to fix this.

Problem is, you first have to make your folders on the left in the Hamburger menue..

After this you go to your folder in the assets.   then you bring some footage to your document, you select it, and in the Hamburger menue you now can say...  something like...  get your asset from the selected contend...  (dont remember the exact command.)   but exactly this is horrible cumbersome, without any drag and drop, and only works for stuff you allready have  inside your document..

so drag and drog would be welcome as well as navigating to a predefined folder on your networkstrukture..

While this for sure is not on the highest list, i think the assets at the moment are not developed enough..

1. As far as i have seen,  you can only make a folder and a subfolder. If you need to make a deeper three as iwould have to do for our corporate Designs, that we use for our comuication stuff, this is not enough.

2. Drag and drop at last from an opened document to the Assets pannel should be enabled..

3. This should of course be possible for several Objects at a time.

4. Drag and Drop from outside of an Af Publisher file should be possible.  for example from the Windows Explorer.

5. You should be able to define folders on your network, to be able to share content for the whole company.   and.. 

6. You should be able to define Pathes for this,  that you also should able to set while network installation , so everyone starts his new copy of shining Affinity Software, and can jump in from the start whith all footage he/She needs.

At last a feature i would suggest, that this should also be possible ( for the corporate Colors to load them and also for usual Styles, that one should be able to load as templates or that should be predefined at hands. )

my solution for getting rid of unuses styles, was to create a new doc.  delete all style, i could..  exept of "no-style",

copying all content to this new file.

deleteing now all from the original....   

copying all contend back...   this way, i realy got a clean smal styles area. with only about 5 or 6 styles, that my collegues later on can use..

 

But ! this is cumbersome...      please Affinity..  explaine those style structure to us..   why not just aditionaly beeing able to make folder...

Is there a way to ge rid of all unused Styles in a document, when you have finisedit ? 

i could need this , while preparing templets for users, that from time to time will use the predefined Styles. But while creating the template there i have many styles, i only tried out. So at the end a one click , delete all styles i dont need, would be very nice to clean the document up.. 

And by the way, why cant i organise my styles in folder for better understanding..  maybe i still dont understand the way of organising styles in publisher.  But especialy as a beginner in such software, a folder aproach would ease the learning cuve extremly..   hmm..

Hi,  i have at the moment to    "reconstruct  a  master-layout for everything in my company  A4   megadocument."

This worked only by importing the pdf of the indesign original file...     Now of course everything is formatted,  and the aim is to reconstruct styles, layout and everything, so later on we will get a template for our company, to build up on.. 

1.  is there a way to make an empty new style, and tell it to get "All"  Attributes from the line or word, or what so ever..  like a pipette tool for textstyles ?   ( it takes long time to make a new style, swith to the textstyles, look everywhere for everything, goback to your new style, fill in the attributes by hand..   look again for paragraph attributes and so on and so on...   so. this would be handy..

2. the other way round..  if i have a style and want it in many sections of a document.     i  have to open the frame klick in the text, search again for my style,   search the next textarea for the style, repeat repeat repeat...   wouldnt it be nice just to have a  style-brush-icon  and functionality...   Open Office or Staroffice once had something available... very very handy..

Hi Pille....    As Medical Officer Bones is caled in Germany..

In this i am totaly open to any suggestion..   for my architectural Company, there are at last three big  improvements that should be done to Affinity. But this one is the most important, because it excetpionaly would improve the workflow.. 

the secound is the ability to strg+shift klick to a layericon to "Additiv" select the pixelselection.  as you can see in the following thread.

 

the third improvement would be of course linked embeded files..  but this one affinity allready told will come when publisher is out and then also photo and designer will have it.

 

at last.   Vectorplans with hundrets and thousends of lines and vectorstuff, as you get them from Architectural CAD Plans are         horribly      slow in the viewport, compared to a rasterised image...  so this should be adressed too. and it would be, if a how ever ..... turn to pixellayer would be available that still was linked to the external file, as you described it above for Photoshop and also for PhotoLine.

I´ve got another Question.

I reconstruct a pdf file comming from indesign, imported it and try to reconstruct it in painter...

on thing i would like to do is align my Word  "  Büroprofil "   to the guide, but also to align the first letter exactly to the guide too...   this is optical alignment right ? 

How do i do this , is this even possible with my font ?   Agfa Rotis Sans Serif ?

in the first image you see what i´ve got..     how can i make it look like the secound image, where the letters are in one line a little bit furter to the right... is it a paragraph setting somewhere ?

Both of you... have many thanks.. i tried it.. here are the screenshots..  as far as i see it worked as you have eyplained... 

I tried to go to the Export settings of the pdf export and in "More" i tried two export options..   i checked and unchecked the option... subfonts..

this was the produced pdf claimed the fonts one time as subset one timen not..

Hi,
I still struggle with some of the workflows of Publisher, but also as well with indesign..  because i never had to use it in depth..

My company uses as CI  a font caled   "Agfra Rotis Sanserif"  As far as i have understood this, this isnt a font that you get on your Desktop by default, when using Windows, so our admins supply this font automated to each new Computer that gets installed. 

So everyone using Indesign or Publisher only gets access to it, when "Agfa Rotis Sanserif"  was installed properly on their Desktop.  Now he / she  can work with the font, and doesnt have to think about, while producing sheets of paper.   and printing..

 

But i was told in some cases, when you use a pdf for example outside of the company, on an external laptop for example this can lead to problems.  I was told that our colleques have to remember to embedd the font to the pdf.  Otherwise, presenting for example a pdf via beamer on an foreing laptop, will lead to uggly presentations, in the case, because windows will substitute the font with something else..

furthermore, i was told, we cant give the font away seperated from the pdf, because its not free, if i understood this right..

 

now my questions.. 

1. How can i assure in Publisher,  our company font will be embedded in a new pdf file?

2 How can i Explore an existing pdf file, to see if the font is embedded ? 

Could someone explain this to me ?  I will have to produce some Templates for our company in the futur with some help (i hope so)  from our PR appartment.   But they dont know Publisher so far, so i need your knowledge..

As a professional you might change the shortcut. you are right.  problem is, most arnt proessionals in using such software.. they use it on a occasionaly basis.  so in my company, my collegues work with 10 further softwarepackages like Revit, Rhino, and so on, and use Publisher rather sometimes when producing as on step in a long walk, for example a A3 Brochure..  they will never change presets in any way.   

So wether i find a way to do this and distribute it over the network simultaniously for 300 Architects, or everyone who expects another behaviour will be anoyed..  as i was..   i think this would be better in another setup.
