  1. Hi Erwe, You can control the opacity of the brushed area trough the Overlays tab. If you want overlays with different opacities use the Brush Tool in the Overlays tab (on bottom) to create a new overlay selectable in the panel and use the Opacity control on top to set it's opacity, then apply whatever adjustments you need to each of them independently.
  2. You have to switch tabs (right above the document area) to move from one document to the other. Alternatively you can go to menu Window ▸ Separated Mode to be able to see both documents at the same time.
  3. Hi manuschwendener.ch, Currently, the quickest way to do this, as far as i know, is to select all layers (press ⌥⌘A ), then copy (press ⌘C ) then File ▸ New From Clipboard (press ⌥⇧⌘N ). I agree it's a little cumbersome. A Duplicate menu command and a shortcut would help here :)
  4. The Blend Mode in the Live Filer dialog is passed to the layer's blend mode (on the top of the Layers Panel) but this could be retained in the Filter dialog itself. Issue logged to be looked at. Thanks.
  5. Hi mcl, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The latest Affinity Designer Beta lets you create an artboard from the New Document dialog that allows you to use the surrounding area as a pasteboard like you are used to. This will be included in the next Mac App Store (MAS) update, hopefully before Christmas. If you want you can install the latest Designer Beta from here (just remember to keep the Mac App Store version installed since it's needed to run the it). We also intent to improve the Media Browser to allow you to store your own objects (see our roadmap for more info). If you are using the MAS one option would be to create a new document with all your templates and copy/paste from there to the document you're working with.
  6. Hi LilleG, Yes, it should work with Mountain Lion. Let us know if there's issues.
  7. Hi Xavier, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Have you tried to export the text as curves? Which version are you using the Mac App Store or the Beta?
  8. Hi PettitPoint, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Make sure you have the correct layer selected and that's identified as a (Pixel) layer in the Layers panel. If it's identified as an (Image) right-click on it and select Rasterise.... then try the Inpainting Brush Tool again.
  9. Hi allenbham, Yes, overall they allow you to organise you project but also manipulate your objects - nesting them in specific positions for layer clipping or layer masking, or to control adjustements/filters and what they elements they affect just to name a few example. You can find an overview of the Layer panel in this video tutorial, and there's also an entire section in the Help dedicated to Layers. For additional video tutorials about Designer take a look at this page or Affinity's Vimeo Channel (both list the same videos).
  10. Hi ReiR3k, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No, currently It's not possible to create a shape/path from a selection. This is planned for a future update.
  11. In that case i believe the same logic should apply to nudging. By principle moving an object on canvas shouldn't affect its hierarchy, but since this is a requisite to move objects between artboards, it should also be applied to nudging. I'm not expecting the way i move it could lead to different side actions like retaining or not its hierarchy. It's easy to forget this while we are just focused on moving it to outside the artboard. It's also weird to have an object "marked" as visible in the Layers panel but invisible on screen because it was nudged to outside the artboard.
  12. Hi RichardB, Thanks for the file. It's opening fine on my system. This is not the first time users are reporting issues with a few RAW's which i'm not able to reproduce here. It seems related to some specific configs but i'm not yet sure what's going on. What's your system specs? Thanks.
  13. The issue here is the inconsistency. Either the objects remain on the same hierarchy or change it but the behaviour should be consistent no matter the way you move them. So as soon as the object lays entirely in the pasteboard area it should become visible again even if nudged. The question is, should the objects moved to the pasteboard area change hierarchy or not?
  14. There's no need to rasterise the layer. Right-click the layer in the Layers panel and select Duplicate (or press ⌘ (cmd) + J). Change to the Node Tool and drag a selection marquee around the body of the bee to select all its nodes, then press Delete on you keyboard. You should now have a vector layer with just the head (plus the original layer with the full body). You can do the same with the original layer but remove the head instead this time. You will end up with the body and head in different layers.
  15. Hi RichardB, There's a 20MB upload limit for each file and some formats are not allowed. To work around the first issue, you can use this link to upload files directly to my Dropbox account. Regarding the second, just zip the file before attaching it to the Forum.
  16. Hi Kris, There will be more improvements to the Snapping later.
  17. Hi AaplMike, This is already planned for a future version.
  18. Hi Karim, I believe MattP is already aware of this, but it doesn't hurt if you post it in the Feature Requests section if it wasn't there already. Without seeing what you're trying to achieve is difficult to suggest something in this case.
  19. Hello mattforsbacka, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Unfortunately no. Apple Photos doesn't offer an Edit in external editor functionality (like Aperture or iPhoto) so you have to do it manually. To export a RAW file from Apple Photos go to menu File ▸ Export ▸ Export Unmodified Original.... Then open it in Affinity Photo, edit the image and save in your preferred format. To import it back to Apple Photos go to menu File ▸ Import... and select the file or drag it from the Finder to Apple Photos. You can also access Apple Photos's library inside Affinity Photo trough the menu File ▸ Open then navigating to the Media section on the left. However this will import a JPG version of the Photo not the RAW. Same if you access them trough Affinity Photo Media Browser (View ▸ Media Browser...) The latest Affinity Photo Beta includes six extensions for Apple Photos: Retouch, Miniaturise, Monochrome, Liquify, Develop and Dehaze which cover part of Affinity Photo functionality. Those will also be available in the next update of the Mac App Store version (before Christmas).
  20. Hi Giovanni, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) I'm not sure i understood your question. Do you meant duplicate a layer (image) inside the document? If so, right-click the layer/image in the Layers panel and select Duplicate from the menu (or press ⌘ (cmd) + J).
  21. Hi RichardB, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The first issue was already logged to be looked at. Regarding the second issue, can you attach one of those dng's please? Thanks.
  22. Hi weristsam, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) With the Node Tool selected, go to the context bar and check Snap to selected curves in the Snap section (it's the first icon). Then ⇧ (shift) + click both objects to select them. You can now drag the nodes of one shape over the other. They should snap when they are near each other. You will also see the colour of the node become yellow when their positions match.
  23. Hi robertlunak, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) There's no equivalent to Photoshop paths tab in Affinity, however Affinity vector layers are kept as vector objects (shape layers) in Photoshop if you export the file as PSD. Currently Affinity Designer/Photo will rasterise all vector objects if you export the document as TIFF.
