Bloque9 reacted to Snapseed in Affinity products for Linux
...plus their presence would then make Linux a far more attractive platform to convert to which will in turn bring in even more sales.

Bloque9 got a reaction from kenmcd in Funny Characters when exporting to PDF (text inside tables)
It worked. Thank you very much. I was using Monserrat Google Font and was duplicate. As soon as I changed the funny chars dissapear.

First guess, bad PostScript Name in the font file(s), or duplicate font files present in the fonts folders.
1. What font is being used in the table?
2. Make sure there is only one version of that font installed (or files present in your system or user fonts folders).

Bloque9 reacted to v_kyr in ATN
Let me add here, that there often even isn't a parity between PS and PSE for many features and that PS Actions in general are also not safe usable across own PS language localisation versions. ATN action files do use a proprietary binary format and even that format is slightly documented, it is hard to parse and make any valuable use out of it for external other programs. The possible auto layer namings, commands and function execution steps inside of ATN files are absolutely Photoshop related and thus there won't be easy to adapt equivalents available in other bitmap software.
In the past I had to adapt/convert certain with english PS versions built action files, in order to reuse them with foreign other localized language PS/PSE versions and from that programming experience I can tell that it is no easy task to deal with ATN files at all.
So IMO it will be much better if Serif will build it's own custom (for their Affinity products tailor-made) scripting/macro action format here, which then hopefully will also be localisation safe usable across Affinity localized language versions!

Bloque9 reacted to Olaf Rubens in Pathfinder in Designer
Hi I'm new here,
In Illustrator a simple click on the "Unite" pathfinder and/or "Minus front" will do the trick.
I understand this is not possible yet,
so whats the best way to do this in Designer?
Really want the go with Affinity now, so I hope someone can help, thanks

Bloque9 got a reaction from Renzatic in Affinity for UX
Im starting to switch my agency design software to yours. Thing is, I would like to have a UX tool since all the actual work needs to be presented to my client. I do not thing you need a really fancy stuff, actually Designer could perfectly do the trick with a way to presenting the work online (could be a cloud service charge also).
Thank you very much :)

Thanks for the advice (and the sympathy)! It is not that bad actually. Anyway, I think Affinity Designer and Photo are great software.

Really? Do you find that hard to believe that 20,000 people in all the world would pay for a license on linux? Specially since the web development goes straight to that direction? I do not see the need to undermine an effort with your lame humour just because you think it is as hard as going to another galaxy.

Well, only thing I need is a link to send people interested in Affinity Software for Linux and actually pre-order their licenses. You can start with Designer and Photo. If its ok for you. Meantime, I keep my word to buy 9 licenses from you, (you can give me the licenses first in Windows and change to Linux when it is done). Just give me the link to pre-order my Linux software.

Please, stop assuming Linux is a small market and give us a try. What does it takes for you to consider creating a Linux version? Or at least a Steam OS one? How many users or licenses? Better yet, create a Kickstart project for that and let us buy the licenses to fund your Linux version.

Dear Affinity Developers. Instead of asking for you to make Affinity for Linux, I'd rather ask what do you need to consider to develop for Linux? The thing is, we, web developers use Linux a lot more than other people. Which is a market niche that is growing. In fact, in my agency 50% of the people use Linux. So why dont you Kickstart your project and clear all doubts? We users can pay for the development and you get to grow to new markets.
Let us decide.

I'm a Web developer and director of a small Web design agency, I believe I'm not alone when it comes to use a good photo and vector software in Linux. Right now everyone has to swicth on and off from one OS to another because some things we need a design software. Its painfully, and tedious. You guys can crowfund the project and let us know! Believe me, everyday it passes, there's more people that need Linux compatibility. The thing is there are users like me that use Linux because is better for Web development, not because is free. Kickstart the project and you will get a nice surprise, I'm confident that you'll get more that 500k because there is actual need of it. You have my word I make sure all my team use Affinity and we would be very thankful for that. What you have to loose? Crowfund now!
