this is actually really cool for photo manipulation, styling/ creating a look as well, thanks for creating them in Affinity  :)

for me this is a bug   it could just default to "open as application palette" when it is dragged onto the affinity icon

The Bearded Bird reacted to oquendoG in Dodge and burn ellipses like lightroom [macro]
Hi everyone I've done a macro with 3 elipses for dodge and burning like lightroom but in ap, one for dodge other for burn and another for contrast.

    How to use

    1.import the macro

    2. clic on the dodge elipse macro but ensure the fill color is white

3.clic on the burn elipse macro but ensure the fill color is black.

4.Clic on the contrast macro but ensure the fill color is white

    5. Select the move tool [v] for modifying and moving the elipse.

You can play with opacity for making stonger or softer the effect or even change the blend mode.

The macros will generate an elipse with a name like dodge, burn and contrast for that reason you need to set the correct color fill before apply the macro, and the other reson is because affinity photo didn't allow me record fill colors with elipses.

    Enjoy :)

Hi, I've been working on som assets and documents for material design in Affinity designer.

The Icon assets are the original SVG downloaded from https://material.io/icons/ and are all in 24x24 px (I will try to update this when there is new icons).
I've also started to make a document that is a copy of te dokument that Sketch uses (This is not done but I would like feedback on what to improve)

I planned to practice my skills on this and create the alternate dark and contrast modes (plus a plethora of other alternate UX options for some controls in AD). A lot of stuff are yet to be recreated (the buttons up top, the additional layer controls at the bottom, other tool windows, selection focus modifications, etc etc etc), but this seemed like a good WIP I can share.

PS: Liking the new light UI on AD. Thanks, devs!

The Bearded Bird got a reaction from LilleG in Could we have a way to sort / order list items, please?
Sorting would be great. Not just for the brushes and that kind of things, but also when you open e bunch of files and want them to be sorted alphabetically or by date etc.

The Bearded Bird got a reaction from tomekf248 in Subscribing to Assets
It would be awesome if a assets list could be made public and people could subscribe to a list. So if someone/affinity team made a list of current icons in material design, or something else that may change. The update would happen live on everyones list as soon at the owner of the list updated it :)

So to clarify, I don't want to just export the current list in my assets and share on some random site. I want the update to happen live on all the machines that subscribe to the list.

Never mind "in the end." It is doing just fine right now, has been for quite a while, & it is extremely unlikely that it will not continue to do so. It has nothing to do with the supposed damage to the company's reputation because <gasp> there is still some out-of-date info on the web if you look for it or any of the farfetched scenarios that might result from that.

Affinity/Serif will do more than "just fine" for several reasons:
    1. The apps are remarkably good values.
    2. The pace of development is amazing, even without considering how small the development team is or the enormity of trying to develop a suite of apps based on a single file format, which is almost without precedent in the software industry.
    3. The staff, including the people who actually write the code, are remarkably straightforward & honest about the problems they have encountered & what they are doing to try to resolve them.
    4. Even if Publisher is never released, there are viable alternative workflows in which using the existing Affinity apps still makes a lot of sense to a lot of people.
    5. Did I mention that they are remarkably good values?
    6. For the most part, people are not really so gullible or stupid that they cannot tell the difference between marketing hype & reality. This is true for almost all marketed goods & services; in the software industry "real soon now" has long since become a catch phase that almost everybody except the most naive have long since realized means very little other than "we are working on it."

Aside from all that, this horse has been beaten to death. Continuing to kick the corpse will not bring it back to life or do anything besides waste time & energy better applied to other, more productive things. Time to move on, folks.

Well, I made some suggestions to the Affinity team about outdated infos and they corrected it after some time.
So, all you have to do it is to tell them if something is wrong on their forum and they will do their best to make a correction.

@MikeW: let's do it even simplier: everyone who is disapointed from Serif can just leave this forum without making the others nervous.
