  1. Yes I can Move, but I cannot change straight away the selected area. With the method "marry-go-round", as explained here-above by the precious help of the Member SrPx, it is possible to overcome the problem. It would have been much easier and intuitive to do such action straight from the Marquee Tool or clicking on the Move Tool, instead to click on "Q" and then go to the Move Tool. For me it has been a nightmare as I was not to be able to simply copy and paste, despite all the attempts and tutorials I have followed (maybe I am not clever enough for AP requirements). I enclose the 3 screen shots (made by means of IrfanView) to show the steps. I know the commands to add / subtract / itersect, but they are so friendly use as shown in the example.
  2. I have come to end of my problems that seemed to be similar to yours. Now at last, thanks to help of a Member I have just arrived to the solution. I give the link to my topic; the last 3 comments will show you the result. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30010-copy-and-paste/?p=146794
  3. You are magician; thank really a lot. I have tryed any solution, but I could not come to the end until I got your incredible help. Now everything looks easy. You were perfectly right; the No. 3 is the best and fast; I got exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate your great help. I enclose a simple photo to show which kind od result I was looking for; the two clocks below shows the result.
  4. Thank you for your comment that I agree in full. The problem I have with AP (that I like a lot in many other aspects) is only that when I select the area with a Marquee Tool I cannot refine the selection acting on the blinking dot line; I can only repeat and repeat until I got exactly the area I want; it is surprising that this is made either by IrfanView and Gimp, bu it is not possible with AP that it is supposed to be a much superior photo editor. Maybe I am missing something that I do not understand.
  5. I posted already my opinions on this subject, but until now I could not get an actual constructive answer. When I select an area on a photo by using the Marquee Tools I expect one of the following actions: - get the area, either rectangular or circular, as I want; this already works well as it is; - adjust the area by moving (as already is) and try to adjust by enlarging or reducing by clicking on the sected blinking line; this is not possible. - then Copy and Paste where I like. I enclose screen-shots to show the 3 steps; it is evident that the 2nd (P2) and 3rd (P3) are not acceptable. I have tried also to use the Move Tool after the Marquee Tool, but, once there, it changes in the Copy/Paste mode and I can only resize the image I got.
  6. When I have to simply Copy and Paste, as should be with Marquee Tools, also I do prefer either Gimp or IrfanView.
  7. I have tried to repeat the same as you did, but in my lap-top computer, HP EliteBook with Windows 7 Pro, it is very fast; I do not have any delay, never mind how fat I move.
  8. It is up to you to be satisfied of such poor result. Even IrfanView, that is just a toy, can do better and since many years.
  9. I fully agree with you about this issue; it appears to me that they are unable to provide the tools working in the same way as in AD (where is perfect). In AP the Marquee Tool is just an headake; it is icredible that I am still forced to still use the very poor Photo Editor IrfanView to do what is too difficult with AP. Amazing; maybe I am not clever enough for it.
  10. I looked at the long list of so many improvements already fixed, hoping that also the Marquee Tools were included; I do hope in the next future!
  11. About 18 months have elapsed since your post and this issue is still unsolved. Tips, Tricks and Workaround are not the solution. I do not understand why they refuse to accept the matter of fact that, as they are at the present, the Marquee Tools are hopless and useless. I hate functions that make complicate the easy matters.
  12. I was expecting similar Marquee Tools in Affinity Photo, where it is a nightmare. When I ask why, they give Tips and Tricks, but it is not possible to get the same as AD. What a pity; I am thinking to give up with AP, while I like very much AD.
  13. I copied the 2 files, and I restarted the PC, but it does not work. I still see the Affinity Logos (AD & AP) with the file names, i.e. xxxx.afphoto & yyyy.afdesign
  14. I have just discovere how to come out from this problem (thanks to the help I got from this forum) - Rasterize... (to be activated from the Layer menu on the top bar); this to change the image from pixel to raster. - Select the area with a Marquee Tool - Click on the Move Tool, Copy (CTRL+C) and the at last Past (CTRL+V) where needed. Rather complicated, but it works.
  15. I tried and it works; thank you so much. - Rasterize... - Select the area with a Marquee Tool - Click on the Move Tool, Copy (CTRL+C) and the at last Past (CTRL+V) where needed. (i.e. how make complicate the easy matters) In any case this still appears to me very as an illogical way to make thinks that with a poor photo editor like IrfanView (not Photoshop, that I have never used) can be handled by a child.
  16. The Move Tool works perfectly in AD, but not at all in AP. A poor photo editor like IrfanView (it is the best to manage simple things) can do very easily such simple matters, while a sofisticated software as AP cannot; it is incredible.
  17. Today I have posted exactly the same question. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30010-copy-and-paste/ When I hope the image it appears with the Viewer selected and therefore it is impossible to copy a small are of the image.
  18. Thank you; in the mean time I already got it; I was using the Perspective Tool instead of the Mesh Warp Tool that it works perfectly fine with me; I tried an eaxample similar to your photo.
  19. I feel very embarrassed for this silly question. With AP is it possible to Copy part of an image (say a square small area) and Paste on the same one? With Affinity Desgner this is very simple. I have not been able to find out any tool able to do such simple matter. Of course I could use the Crop Tool, but it appears to me as too complicate (I am forced to play with two layers).
  20. I have been very surprised to look at your video-file. Are you using AP for Windows? I am not able to get such effects as I have only the grid on the full image.
  21. I got exactly the same effect, but I tought that it was normal. All the files with extension .AFDESIGN are displayed only with the standard Affinity Logo + the file name
  22. You must click on the down arrow of the Snapping Tool and on the top of the scrolling menu, go to Preset and click on Page layouts with objects. It will work.
  23. Congratulations. I have already bought it. Frankly speaking I think that the price is really too convenient; it is almost a gift.
  24. Thank you for the very fast answer. I have seen that it works perfectly; well done!
  25. Following a Udemy Course I have discovered that the MAC version allows to change dinamically the dimensions of the Brush Circole simply pressing <CTRL+Alt); this useful solution is not available with the Windows release. I attach a screen-shot to show what I mean.
