rsi.studio got a reaction from Leigh in Reset Colors to B/W, 1-click
For those who might come across this post & are looking for a method ....
In AF Photo (tested in ver. 1.4) Go to Preferences >> Keyboard shortcuts  > Photo > Miscellaneous > Set fill to Black & White > & press D key to set or whatever you prefer. If you see the conflict triangle, hover over it to see what it is (not the section, sub section it's in though unfortunately). You could set fill to 50% grey as Shift 5 while you're there?
Hope to see keyboard command slots available for fill with foreground / background coming up?
    cheers  :)

It would be a very useful setting to be able to switch between various saved personalized custom workspaces. Also when you switch to ‘Separate Mode’ and return, all your previous palette positions are wiped (and sometimes requires a restart to get them back to default even) so a saved workspace would be a real time saver.
    thanks for your consideration

rsi.studio got a reaction from Stokestack in Snapping to guidelines is inaccurate.
I've been increasingly frustrated by this bug & " slightly inaccurate " is absolutely correct. Snapping to grid cannot be relied upon (for accuracy) in Affinity Designer. You will often find 0.3 mm offset here there and everywhere even in simpler drawings. I've read in older posts where it was suggested that one should fiddle with snapping tolerances & toggle about with check boxes but to be honest, if the software states "snap to guides & grid " then it should do just that .... not sometimes. Note, when using power duplicate on a complex object and the snapping was perfect first time .... you might well find that the third duplicate has shifted off of your custom rotation point center 0.3mm!!! whoa, you are in for a shock when trying to fit mock up parts together, totally unreliable sadly. btw, Occasionally AD gets it right, but the checking of all points & correcting faults is too much. Still looking to ver. 1.6 for a fix. but moved back to Inkscape for accuracy.

rsi.studio got a reaction from Tim Gummer in Twitchy Cloning
I managed to replicate the behaviour using Andy's explanation above, ie undo an Option duplicated/move. This goes some way in showing where the trigger hibernates for overlaid triplicated or quadruplicated and so on objects. Anyhoo, today I made cards using Option drag without any undos and the design was fine .... having said that, I would stick to using a grid/guides then duplicate using Command J, then moving the copy, using snapping etc. That way an undo triggers no replications.

seasonal greetz to all who want them :P

This is a nasty little 'Option copy=triplicate objects' bug, still applies to AD 1.5.4
eg create business card with say outline, 6 lines of text, one background image & one logo > group objects in card > align to your cutting grid > option copy group to right x 3 & then all down x 4 & YIKES !! The whole page is in triplicate over each other & the printed finish is trash.

Here's work around a) DO NOT OPTION COPY in AD, use 'Command J' & then move objects to right > align perfectly in one move(important) > then repeat Command J to copy & move object > select 3 object groups or cards (in this case) and duplicate 'Command J' move down and again make it snap to your carefully positioned guides, then repeat 'Command J' 2 times for 4 rows. This produces one layer of objects!

work around b) create biz card > group & create a symbol from this ... repeat as above for copying ... this is useful because if you want to tweak adjust one card design, they all change (almost at any rate, bit buggy this, ie images have to be deleted independently, that's another bug report though) ....

lesson here : do not option drag to duplicate in AD, it's very unpredictable.
hope this helps someone, drove me crazy for two hours to get this card printed correctly.

rsi.studio got a reaction from Krustysimplex in [AD] Align with key object / aligning nodes
I design furniture and aligning multiple selected nodes within object or line to whatever I choose is essential. At the moment, afdesigner is limited to > select nodes, check ... shift select object to align to, check .... select align and watch your drawing shift to the edge of the page! Not amusing. I'm aware they can be independently dragged out but that's like drawing a square to measure something (oops, going back 12 years there).

The measuring/building guides and snapping functions are great in afdesigner & I love moving objects with your real-time measuring guide. Sadly this is useless when I want to shift 7 alternating nodes 3.5 mm. Lets say I want to straighten a line, isn't it easy to drag over the 2 nodes and press align top? That also somehow brings me to the move dialog ... or lack of. The transform palette is the second limitation here.

Please designer designers, forget the funky punk stuff for a minute & lets get these basic pillars of design tools sorted.

There needs to be some serious tweeking improvements in both the Crop Tool and Image Size Adjustment Panel. They are related after all and have you noticed that reducing a files pixel count actually makes a larger file size? Perplexing in the least.
