  1. I am currently unable to launch the program, but I understand there is an option to right click and select "Find in layers panel." Someone here had the same problem.
  2. There wasn't originally, but it's been added.
  3. I'm glad the issue was solved, but for the future, in regards to post 5, is there a "kerning" option in the paragraph formatting? Kerning will space out the letters. Doing that, you won't have to convert to curves.
  4. Gumbo, Are you trying to have a shape fade from solid to transparent? If so, you can either just use the transparency tool, or with the gradient tool, have one node set to 100% opacity and the other to 0% opacity.
  5. Isn't it working? All it takes is to place your text cursor on a line so the cursor changes, and then just type. Are you perhaps using the artistic text tool instead of the textbox tool?
  6. And I believe it to be true. What I don't get is when placing a DVD into a blu-ray player, the quality looks better than it did on the DVD player. Somehow, the original picture is improved. Whatever capabilities these new devices have, they are not provided for personal use. There are blu-ray player software, but the compatibility is always limited compared to the real thing.
  7. Hey Mark, There's no pressure, but are you having any luck in finding the reason for the unhandled extension? It stinks not being able to use the program for so long. This page might be related to it, but I don't understand how to do the first step in the instructions. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/815117
  8. That's what I understand, though I don't get how old movies for example are able to have much better picture quality in modified versions. As it was explained to me, the original clip from the projector is used and is not edited over and over in modified movies. However, when VHS became DVD, DVD became Blu-Ray, and now Blu-ray is becoming Ultra Violet, I feel like there's some catch to it that we, consumers, don't yet know. I don't mean with software; just picture quality in general.
  9. Well then, I'm really happy to see that Affinity Photo has it. It's probably a little off topic, but suppose I had a lossy image I brought into the program that was not a RAW image. Would there be a way to make it look like one? Something I really want to learn is how to enhance picture quality so well so the simplest details are shown.
  10. Or just adjust the opacity in the Layers panel and not Colour panel. The Colour panel will change the fill and stroke separately, but the Layers will change them both together.
  11. I'm thinking that each file extension should still play a very critical role. Each Affinity application can maybe open them and keep most of file properties the same, but I assume only to a certain extent. Vectors in bitmap programs are not actually vectors; they're vexels. I would think bringing a Designer file into Photo would pixelize the quality. For crossing applications, still have a copy with the original file extension.
  12. I didn't know a new version of Mac was already out. That seems silly that CS6 won't run on it. Good to know.
  13. Sure thing. I'm just a member by the way, but I think it would make sense for this to be added.
  14. Petar said what I was about to say about Publisher coming out. That might be better for you since you come from InDesign. I'm interested to see how it will differ from the other Affinity products (the key differences). I do hope the packaging and link embedding is more intuitive. There were so many cases when my links and fonts were broken.
  15. Just put all the layers inside one in the Layers panel, and then click on that layer to select it. That will select all layers and all paths inside it. You know what to do from there.
  16. I say Designer would be the appropriate choice for the job. I made a lot of UI designs myself; using vector support. Having vector tools gives a user a lot more advantages than designing layouts in bitmap programs because of the convenience of having everything be editable. Some of my examples: http://leduc-gallery.deviantart.com/art/DuckDuckMail-Concept-626444070 http://leduc-gallery.deviantart.com/art/Gemstone-Concepts-620365000 Also, I can't remember what video it was or how this feature works in Designer, but there is an option to resize just a frame, and all other content will stay locked. I really wish I could find this again.
  17. In that case, I agree with you. It's always good to learn the "route path" in Explorer or any application first, and then learn the shortcuts if desired. That is something I encourage too, because it helps the user to become more aware of the program's organization rather than just know the shortcuts. It's like a cell phone. No one knows the numbers anymore, because they're all programmed. Haha.
  18. Even though I prefer the current layout, I think this is important since it is beneficial for every designer to have their own desired workspace.
  19. As it was explained to me in just the previous thread of the Windows beta, the folder is hidden. In order to access it manually, type in just %AppData% in the navigation box. Normally, it would be under Computer > C Drive > Users > (Name of Computer) > AppData, but there is no bridge from the computer name to AppData.
  20. True, though I do wish they'd update their interface to resemble the Microsoft ribbon or something. I do love how they carry all those spacing options though like in InDesign.
  21. My pleasure. I find that second one pretty informative.
  22. That's a good nickname for them. Now we just need a company to compete with Microsoft Office.
  23. Of course. I got that document from one of the pinned threads in the Tutorials section here. Just click on the link for the Affinity Photo Cheat Sheets here. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/15683-affinity-keyboard-shortcuts-gestures-and-expressions/
  24. I think this should go in the Feature Request section. But anyway, it may not be a list of the comparison, but here is a list of everything Affinity Photo can do. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/full-feature-list/ The major thing, or top thing, that I'm happy about is the perspective tool and how it works similar to Photoshop's puppet warp. The puppet warp was always my favorite feature in Photoshop, so I am so glad there is something similar in Affinity.
