    Just in case: Although Pen | Pencil Tool work differently and Pen doesn't enable straight lines (actually odd. why not with Shift as usual?), this might be a compromise/workaround:

    In FreeHand, that tool doesn't draw smooth lines. It is combination between Designer's pen and pencil tool:

    1. when you just click the left mouse button and drag the mouse, you are in Designer's pen mode -- drawing a straight line;
    2. when you hold the left mouse button pressed, you are in Designer's pencil mode -- drawing freehand curves.

    So, I can't get rid of an artboard. I really want to use it, I need it, but then I need to delete it and not my project!

    Just curious. Why would you like to delete it even it is not your project? Canvases / Artboards / Pages, are useful to define what is going to be printed or exported or... anything else. It is something like the painter trying to destroy the canvas, but keep the painting.

    No it depends on what I am at liberty to say, not what is found in V2.6.4 .

    What is found in v2.6.4 beta (here and in internal testing) determines how many times we create new 2.6.4 betas and therefore how quickly we release 2.6.4 to all customers. What comes next does not depend on that (unless we release 2.6.4 containing a big previously unknown regression, in which case I would push for a quick 2.6.5, so in that respect I guess it does depend a bit, but the point of a 2.6.4 beta is for regressions not to occur, so it is more theoretical than practical).

    So, this is what we want. Just a small talk from time to time with a staff member to keep us happy and on trucks.
    Thank you.

    With the Crop Tool in APhoto you can not only crop the image. you can alter aspect ratios, straighten the image, add space around it, change the resolution etc etc, and you can create presets to do all these things easily in the future

    OK, you can do to the very first image you open. What about any other image if you would like to place? You can't do it. It automatically selects the first image you used for defining the size of your document, which you could do that with "New..." dialog box. You can use it only once, for only one image in the document you create.

    Currently, the available "Save As" option replaces the active file with the new version, which is not always the desired workflow when the goal is simply to create a backup copy while continuing to work on the current file.

    Save as works exactly as you want Save a Copy to do. With Save as you can change the name and location (if you need) of the file and, at the same time, you start working with it.

    Trim Function
    As for the trim function itself, I'm right. Maybe it should simply be called differently - Trim Canvas. I often use photos with the background removed using a mask. I don't aply the mask in order to be able to edit it later. However, I would like the photo to have the same dimensions as its visible part. This does not conflict with non-destructive editing.

    Yes, you are correct. With crop function all you can do is to trim canvas and after that it is useless (Photo). You can't crop additional images with this tool. You need to use vector elements like rectangles, ellipses... to mask the image. BTW, it work as it should in Designer and Publisher. Affinity should change this functionality in Photo because you can define your canvas size when creating new document, just like you do in Designer and Publisher.

  7. I don't recommend CMYK color space at all because it is generic color space and you will destroy your images if you convert them directly. Converting back from CMYK to RGB will not bring back the tones that were previously in the RGB format. Keep editing your images in RGB whether they will be used on web or print. For printing purpose you should create PDF with appropriate color space in "File > Adobe PDF presets > Press quality > Output > Color > Destination". You choose:

    1. U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) -- for rotation printing;
    2. Coated FOGRA39 -- for sheet printing, or;
    3. any other specific to your device.

    That will converted all RGB images from your document into specific CMYK color space for the device you intend to use. Here it is what David Blatner says about this:
