I haven't seen this before, so I figured I would share. This is a simple cartoon like effect. This is similar to the pseudo cell shading tutorial by Affinity, but that's because they used the edge detect tool too. So for what it's worth here we go.
First copy your background layer, CMD-J
Go to Filter, Detect, Detect Edges. Set the blend mode to subtract.
Add the adjustment layer, posterize. Adjust the levels for taste. My example uses 4.
That's it. Now you have a basic cartoon stylized picture. You can use all sorts of additional methods from here. But this seems a good starting point. Hope you find something useful in this. Cheers.

The Ruler Zero is always top left... Why Can't we have it floating, Like center of document or any place And be able to move on the fly... I really would love this...

I love leaves anyway & particularly the Maple Leaf (Good old Canada)

Select the layer you want to make transparent, click on the Mask Layer icon in the Layers panel to create a Mask and select it clicking on its thumbnail.
Then change to the Gradient tool and drag it over the canvas. Change the gradient stop colours to control the transparency: white will show the image, black will make it transparent. Greys will be more or less transparent depending on their value.

Usually applications that tend to do all at once never manage to do anything particularly well. Affinity Photo and Designer serve very different goals. This should become more evident as we move forward. Neither of them are feature complete yet. There will be more Personas / new features / tools, not to mention a third application for desktop publishing. If all this were included in a single app it would become much more complex and heavy, harder to test and maintain and also harder to learn. Keeping them separate allow us to broaden the scope of each one in their particular area while still offering great flexibility since all Affinity apps share the same file format. This allows you to switch from one to another seamlessly without any type of conversions. We believe this is the best compromise between having a limited all-in-on app or a suite of powerful but disconnected/unrelated apps.

  I am a Chinese girl, I am twenty years of age. But, my English is not very good, hope your can be more inclusive.   In September, I will be at the university of grade three.   In school I major in animation, the software is MAYA.   The usual spare time, I taught myself photoshop. Because I love the movie posters, I feel very magical and interesting.   July day, inadvertently I opened the APP STORE. I found this Affinity Photo, I looked into its official website, its function after the introduction, I am crazy in love with it.   Next, you can see posters, Is I use Affinity Photo to make the " China's style", the style of poster, With us Chinese traditional elements, Hope you enjoy it.  
Then, China  now at 12 o 'clock in the evening. I'm going to do a sweet dream.  
 

And to think this was cutting edge once. Where have all those years gone?

Sorry you couldn't purchase the app during the launch offer, we set the offer end date when we upload the app. In this case 23rd July, however it would seem that in some areas the offer ended earlier than expected. Unfortunately this is out of our control and we're unable to give a discount to an individual.
