  1. I have looked and Canva previously and decided it's not for me. I design all my own things, create my own templates. I have no requirements to use basic ones that someone else has created to their own or some generic requirements. Same goes for images, etc. I have NEVER used the Stock option in Affinity. I have no need. I create my own. Why use a stock image that is probably used by thousands of others? No individuality. I also have no interest in working "in the cloud". In fact, I flatly refuse to do so. So, unless Affinity products can operate as standalone products, away from the Canva Cloud Circus, I won't be paying for an upgrade to V3 if that ever happens. I'll just continue using V2 and forfeit any possible additions.
  2. Ah thank you! I'd found that it was a section marker but couldn't work out how to turn it off. All fixed now.. Calm has been restored
  3. I've suddenly gained this odd symbol when using both Artistic and Frame Text tools. I've gone through all the character and paragraph options but can't see anything checked that would cause it. Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid please? It is still visible after deselecting the font tool. It doesn't show up on exported files, but it's annoying and distracting.
  4. For other reasons, I want to keep this old one as win 8.1 - that's why I resurrected it. Under normal circumstances, I use my newer Win 11 pc but that's not possible this week. I'm not messing up what I want to keep here for the sake of a week. I also have a laptop which has all 3Affinities installed - it's just rather slow and chuggy for my work. But, it'll have to do for now
  5. Thanks for the bad news Looks like I'm stumped for the next week !
  6. I'm currently having to use my old Windows 8.1 PC while I do not have access to my Win 11 pc I have downloaded the .exe installers but I'm still getting an error and they won't install. I have also set the properties to Win 8 in compatibility mode but still the problem occurs. Help appreciated as I can't access my newer pc right now
  7. I freely admit to having Craft Artist 2 installed on my current PC and still often using it! I did use Draw Plus and Photo Plus many years ago
  8. I've made my own assets thank you by importing shapes that I've made using CA2 but I would prefer the ability to make new ones directly in Affinity.
  9. Editable bracket shape I would love to see this addition to Affinity (was "Quick Frame" in CA2)
  10. It would seem that this simple question has created havoc. As time is important to me, all solutions suggested are time consuming, so I have decided to switch between programmes to create what I need and hope that maybe one day, the developers at Serif may consider implementing this feature into the newer software.
  11. Ah, yes brilliant - that worked a treat. Thank you immensely.
  12. That's basically what I did, but rather than a rectangle, I used curves, as not all of the frames that I have made are rectangular. Many are very odd shapes. Same principle though. Thanks
  13. Thanks In theory, I thought that would work, but it just gave the same results as previously.
  14. I don't want the exact picture frame per se, I want the workflow of doing it in that way as it was done in CA2. If you are unfamiliar with this concept, then I suggest you watch this - Yes, I have found a way of getting a similar result in Publisher by creating my own frames using curves in Designer and converting it to a frame, then placing both images in the frame, but when I have deadlines to meet, this is very time consuming. And to be frank, some of your replies and questioning my requirements are a little rude.
  15. Yes, that worked at treat. Obviously, unless they bring this freature in then I shall have to switch between programmes.
