Affinity Rat reacted to dmtp14 in Affinity Designer V2 iPad taking up all available storage
sorry but this is too simple: every artist has his/her style...uses brushes, particular colours again and again....and not being able to save this within the app without filling up all space on a 512gb ipad is horrible...you spend more time getting this fixed than actually being able to create art...and the most horrible thing is not being able to save the palettes etc. before deleting and reinstalling the app - what you obviously are forced to do because the app takes up all storage...and neither Serif nor Apple feels responsible.... the circle closes.

I'm not sure what that's talking about. It is well known that deleting the app deletes everything in the Sandbox, and in the app's automatically-created folder in "on my iPad".
That is surprising, as it has worked for others. I presume you did it by double-tapping on the Splash screen to get the Reset dialog?

Dang! you dont drink much do ya!
I’ve had a beer subscription for 40 years, dont mind that paying for that tho!
Beer is transparent, seldom causes flakey connections, but will resolve itself by the next day.

Affinity Rat reacted to Paul Mudditt in How to tell if a file is APho 1 or APho 2
Modification date, if the file is moved it should not change the date. Even if you duplicate a file, its date is the same date as the original on iPadOS.

Affinity Rat reacted to DM1 in Installing App without verification code
The example provided states a verification message has been sent to the phone number. Messages sent to my phone can be read from my iPad . In Settings Messages I have both my email and phone number entered. I don’t recall needing access to my phone. Just needed to sign in with same Apple ID as used on phone.
    from apple
Go to Settings  > Messages, then turn on iMessage.
To select the phone numbers and email addresses you want to use with iMessage, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, then choose from the available options below “You can receive iMessages to and reply from.”

Affinity Rat reacted to DM1 in Files not saved, now what, different behavior APho1 and APho2
Hi Affinity rat, response is a little late, sorry. There was an issue in V2 sometimes not auto updating the sandbox. In latest release the Save/Save a Copy has been removed (temporarily?) and rename has been removed from Home Screen. Returning to Home Screen should now reliably update sandbox but I agree wholeheartedl, ALWAYS manually save to be sure your edits are captured and stored safely.🙂

Affinity Rat reacted to DM1 in Ipad storage mismanagement
Hi Affinity Rat, I’ve seen this issue reported many times. In some instance devices showed more gb stored than was even available on the iPad. Clearly some sort of miscalculation or files not clearing there caches properly. Developers are aware of these issues but I suspect it’s more an iOS issue.

I want to crop a large image with many objects to about 20% of original image.
AP does a non destructive crop, but part of my goal was to reduce file size and complexity of the image.
It appears to accomplish this its necessary to copy the part I want to a new document is this correct?
Even deleting the large background doesnt help much, it presence still contained in file.

Affinity Rat reacted to walt.farrell in Will Macros recorded with Desktop APho1 work with iPad APho2?
You can import a macro, just not on iPad.
Importing a single macro is a desktop function, provided by the Macro panel on the desktop. The Macro studio on iPad is more like the Library panel in the desktop Affinity apps.

Affinity Rat reacted to Paul Mudditt in Will Macros recorded with Desktop APho1 work with iPad APho2?
Actually, that is the basis of my Mud’s Macros.aflibs library in these forums, which brings features to the iPad (such  as stand alone command inpaint) that were in the desktop version but not in the iPad version, yet with the macros desktop features were implemented on the iPad.
If it works on the desktop it will work on the iPad as all apps share the same core software engine.

Affinity Rat reacted to Paul Mudditt in Will Macros recorded with Desktop APho1 work with iPad APho2?
Just to show I have not stopped, here is V14 which includes adding Warp Groups to Photo stolen from Designer 😀. I have had to zip the macros library because V2 macro file format has changed and these forums have not been updated to recognise V2 file formats yet. So unzip and import to photo on any platform.
Mud’s Macros V14 - Added Create Warp Group
SelectAllLayers - select all layers quickly
DeSelectAllLayers - de select all layers quickly
PencilPortrait - Convert Photo to pencil sketch (Credit: Alpha Sierra,
    YouTube)
InpaintCrop2 - Content Aware Crop - fix edges after a straighten crop (Credit: Jim Welsh) As per PS Content Aware Crop.
Inpaint - the inpaint option from the desktop.
Sketch Effect by R C-R - Converts to a sketch effect
Dave’s 6-Layer High Pass Sharpening - Uses 6 layers of sharpening
ExpandStroke - Expand Stroke from Designer
Create Artboard - Create an Artboard from Designer
TextOnCurve - Text on Curve from Designer
    Pre-Process - Add a curve and a sharpening layer
    FSStack by InAffinity
    Wraparound V1.8 by John Rostron
Create Compound Object - Create Compound from Designer
    Content Aware Move
Create and refine a selection, run macro, new layer created from the selection and the source area is filled using content aware fill command edit->Inpaint.
Change to 72DPI - Use in a batch job to set every image to 72DPI without resampling
Resample to 72DPI - Use in a batch job to change DPI to 72 and resample image to the new DPI
Create Warp Group **NEW** - Vector distortions from designer

These macros will work on PC, Mac and iPad versions. It is a “.afmacros” library file so in desktop use view->studio->library and import into the library pane not the macro panel which is only for single “.afmacro” files.

They should work. Assuming they don't use functions that are not available in the iPad version at all.

It's a little bonkers that not every tool panel in these apps is editable. A floating toolbar would be a great compromise.

Affinity Rat got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in Old “Sliders better than V2”
This is the perfect example (new sliders) of what Microsoft does that I hate, force me to learn a new interface, for a change something that is clearly inferior and insult the users with having to learn how to use it! These controls  requires more clicks to check all parameters, are more difficult to use I grade this as an absolute failure.
    Irritation summary
the new interface is slower to use, must click on each parameter to check setting control is more difficult, given the narrow “drag window” to make a dynamic adjustment, try adjusting document size with slider. If you must type in a value why need a difficult to use slider? Insult to injury, I must spend time learning it I have no choice in its usage or implementation Its buggy in its display It forces my hand to cover brush size adjustments every brush alters all parameters so they must be checked prior to use. cant see settings without clicking attempts to make small settings fail because as I lift finger from the scream the number changes
