  1. After looking for a while, it was what I suspected. Thanks Callum for confirming that :) Another cool feature would be to keep the last selected when you use the gradient again.
  2. Hi When you select gradient tool, by default it's from white to a light grey. Is there a way to change that ? Thanks.
  3. Great work Kevin, congrats ! All the steps about lights & shadows are just awesome. Thanks for all the work and sharing. I keep the link :)
  4. I'm aware that the perception of it depends a lot on the viewer but since each tutorial is usually focused on one function / technique, it is supposed to go straight to that point and speed up how to get there.
  5. Hi Dennis I had the exact same problem but I found a video explaining how to proceed. The declaration in AP seems to be very sensitive to the paths. I hope it will fix the problem for you too.
  6. Thanks James, useful as usual. I'm surprised though with the one about FFT. I don't see when you might have to deal with such images, except may be on scanned magazines ?
  7. IMO it's just a question of weeks for those files to be supported. I wouldn't cancel the order of such a great camera just for that.
  8. It's working ! :) Follow strictly the procedure explained in this video if, like me, you install for the first time the Nik collection and you don't have any Adobe product on your Mac.
  9. Hello Miguel, Just a question, do they have to be "activated" in any way before being usable in AP ? Like I said in my post earlier, when I was able to access them in AP, I got the splash screen asking me to buy them or use the demo version. I never had Nik collection installed on my Mac and yesterday night was the first time I downloaded the package. They work fine in Aperture or as standalone apps.
  10. Wow !! Perfect timing Thanks a lot Miguel ! :) Edit : Mmmm... Can't get them to work in AP. At the best I have a partial list of modules in the drop-down menu but any of them I select, I have the splash screen asking me to buy or use the demo version. They work fine though in Aperture or as standalone app.
  11. Hi Dietmar You can use the history of your documents to reverse a modification you don't like, or several ones.
  12. Hey Matt That's amazing ! Great work guys and as usual, thanks for giving us real-time updates on your products development. :D
  13. @stubborndog & donka Yes, I had a look at Capture One for the RAW development part but I finally chose DxO. Capture One is clearly very powerful but I think, DxO is better at lenses corrections and noise reduction. Since I'm more on architectural/city photos, in my opinion, it was a better choice. The main problem with DxO is the lack of masks and local adjustments (and some other unbelievable small flaws) but this is where Affinity Photo takes place :)
  14. Photos is not as bad as we can read about it sometimes so it's definitely an option to consider, because it's free and completely integrated to the OS. I just think the interface of iPhotos was easier. If I don't want to use it anymore it's because I would take the occasion of leaving Aperture to also leave the concept of a closed library containing the photos. And few other things too. But it's still a great application and it does the job pretty well.
  15. @Allan As I said, your video is very interesting and I'll reuse the trick of defining new keyboard shortcuts for sure ! Very good idea ;) While looking for a solution, I also tried the smart folders in the Finder. May be you could correct me but it seems that you cannot define them in a specific directory, they are associated to the left bar of the Finder. I would have prefer to be able to define them only for my photos in the Pictures folder of my home directory. Your ideas can definitely be very useful in some situation though. @cjp You know what to do now, call them every month to get a "new" free month until Affinity release a DAM :P
  16. Hi cjp Yes, Affinity Photo can totally replace PS. Unfortunately, concerning the catalog part, it's more complicated. I watched Allan's video and I must say it's a smart way of using standard OS X features. But if you're looking for keywords, exif edition, smart collections, etc... well... I've been looking through the different solutions available on OS X, standalone, and nothing is really great I have to say. In my case, I want to replace Aperture which was just great, but with no future. I gave a try to Darktable, Media Pro, Lyn, Emulsion, XnView, Picassa, Photo Mechanic, and even Apple Photos but there's always something missing. You might find one that suits your needs though and the good thing is all these applications have a demo version. So see by yourself. For me, the closest to what I'm looking for is probably Media Pro but even if Phase One released a beta version 1.6 recently, its future is not clear.
  17. The teasing continues ? :D I spent some times on finding a solution to replace Aperture in my workflow and I must say I'm really disappointed by the current solutions. I voluntary left aside Adobe but even if the other apps (Darktable, Media Pro, Emulsion, Lyn,...) are interesting, all of them are incomplete in a way or another. At least they all have an evaluation version which is great though. Knowing the quality of AP & AD, I'm pretty sure an Affinity solution in this domain can be a real hit ! In the case there is a pre-alpha-closed program, I'm your man :P !
  18. Of course it would be great to have that new app quickly and full featured, or the DAM one which will my personal treat, but like MEB said you cannot catch up 25 years of development from scratch in just months. I just want to add an important point about the Affinity products, it's this forum. I don't know any other application, except in the open source, where you have a direct contact with the developers ! It takes time to have a new, completely functional feature but you have a direct feedback about how it works and how it is improved. So yes, all they can say about the schedule is "probably", "expected", etc... and how could they do differently ? At least it's not an automated answer ^_^ But when you hit a bug, they ask for the files to check it out.
  19. Just did some other tests and I can confirm allusive result. If I export my TIFF file from DxO choosing sRGB, AP doesn't recognize that profile and I have the popup dialog when I open the file. I can see sRGB profile associated with the file in Gimp or Preview though. If I choose Adobe RGB when I export the file, it opens without the alert in AP and the colors are the same. I'm fine with that because I'll probably work that way. I can send you a TIFF/sRGB file in case you want to check.
  20. I have to do some more tests but I noticed a similar issue yesterday when exporting tiff files from DxO to AP. There is a clear color change on the image once opened in AP. The image looks similar to the one displayed in DxO if I open it in Apple Preview app for example.
