UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers)
The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Photo > About).
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Photo for macOS) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Mac app store purchases and needs a product key).

I second this request. Select Sampled Color just isn't good enough. I need to be able to select a band of colors on the hue spectrum, not just a single color. Photoshop has this capability, and the HSL slider in Photoshop even allows the HSL shift to be applied to just a subset of the hue spectrum. It's a huge time saver!

    Hi

Is it possible with “one click” to replace a Green Screen with a transparent background in Affinity Photo? Normally I’m using Final Cut Pro X to make videos, and in this application I’m used to use Green Screen as Chroma key. Is there a similar function in Affinity Photo?

I want to mirror a isometric Shape (picture) in 30° Axis (red line).

The usual Mirror function only works Horizontal and Vertical.

Know anyone how to do that?

Rhuantavan reacted to Andy Somerfield in Remaining development time
    Hi,

Just thought I'd spend a little time giving an update about where we are with Photo, and what we plan to use the rest of our development time for. There is no fixed "release date" for Photo - it will ship when we feel it's ready to ship. That said, I feel we are probably just over half way through development of the beta. Here's what we think we need to do before we can ship:

1.) Finish Photo Persona - mainly, mask and channels improvements, printing improvements and crop tool improvements. Lots of little odds and ends to clean up.

2.) Develop Persona - we're going to rewrite the processing engine and change the UI significantly. Most of our remaining time will be spent here.

3.) Photoshop Plugins - we're going to spend a lot of time improving the plugin engine, and reach out to plugin makers to help us get everything where it should be.

Obviously, we will always be taking on bug reports - and they will continue to get fixed as they come in. Soon though, we will stop accepting "Feature Requests" for the main Photo Persona (you can still make them, and they will still be read, but we only move things into the "Accepted" sub forum if we plan to implement them before the next full release). We'll start accepting those requests again, once the first version of the app has shipped. Photo development will be, eventually, exactly the same as Designer - a retail version of the app in the MAS, and weekly beta builds for customers containing the latest features / improvements, so even though your feature requests might stay a while longer now before they get accepted, we'll be back to accepting them the week after Photo ships.

That said, we often get feature requests which we consider "low hanging fruit" - ie. a useful feature which turns out to be very easy to implement. It's likely we'll still be accepting and implementing some of those throughout the remaining beta time.

I think we have maybe one of two weeks of work on the Photo Persona, then we'll start working on Develop :)

    Thanks,

    Andy.

We intend to update the currently available Mac App Store product in the near future and will produce the binary for this from the current beta. We feel that we have added a great many new features and bug fixes and would like to get these into the hands of the majority of our customers. We are aware that not every bug has been fixed but we have to commit to updating the App Store version as long as we are not introducing any regressions in functionality or usability. For now, our focus must be on making sure the features included in this release candidate build are as stable and robust as possible, so we will not be adding any new features until we have released this version. We would appreciate it greatly if you are able to spend some time looking at this release candidate version and thoroughly testing it, letting us know any issues that you are having with it so we can prioritise our time to tend to as much as possible.

To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.

Documents made in this version will not be openable in older versions of Affinity Designer. This change was necessary in order to ensure a consistent baseline for our file format for the Affinity Photo Beta. When we update the Mac App Store version it will upgrade to this new archive version number too so will not be an issue in the future.   Improvements, Features, Fixes   - Fix for ‘text in points’ logic error
    - Automatic panel resizing logic added to cope with translated strings that were becoming cropped
    - Performance improvement for non-RGB8 colour formats
    - Fix for Transform panel changes ignoring any ‘nudge’ adjustments previously made with the arrow keys
    - Improved cursors for Gradient Tool, Transparency Tool, Vector Crop Tool and shadow offset tools
    - Path Text tweaks - support for filler text, many speed improvements
    - Removed visible ’focus’ highlight on the line page style buttons
    - Reduced the level of danger implied by the warning given when saving history with documents
    - Completely changed the way we deal with high-DPI documents. There is now no ‘retina’ checkbox and all documents for physical devices are specified in points with a given DPI.
    - Fix for hit-testing issues with the colour wheel and ‘recent’ colours in the Swatches panel
    - Fix for a few Layers panel issues - Shift-Click on a thumbnail works as expected to multi-select the rows again and dragging a layer to the New Layer button now duplicates the layer again.
    - Text context toolbar now has live preview enabled for its Leading control
    - Correctly read DPI information from PNG files when we load them
    - Hopefully improved the speed of opening the Character panel when you have many fonts installed
    - PDF import improvements
    - Fix for Divide boolean operation creating the wrong results and/or crashing
    - Fix for Pixel Persona menu items being in a different order to the Draw Persona menu items
    - Fix for changing a line’s pressure profile not remembering each Undo step correctly
    - Fix for entering a Hex colour not always producing the correct colour
    - Improved the user experience when dealing with documents which take a long time to draw (typically very effect-heavy documents)

hi, Affinity Designer Team. Im Madder Merlin.
I am not good at English, but will participate in the forum using the Google Translate.

I want to assign a shortcut to the paint brush and eraser of pixel persona.
Paint function of Affinity Designer is great, but I believe that convenience is missing.

And, since want to do more instantly brush size and brush opacity, shortcut want also to these functions.
This is one of the idea, I think it a great to be able to adjust the drag while pressing a particular key.   Please consideration. thanks for reading.

We are fixing the offset problem soon and I hope the lag is also caused by the same thing. I'm a bit confused by the ",ore lines you draw it get slower" as in photo all the data goes on the same layer so can't get any slower - this isn't true of designer however.

From what I've seen so far you guys did a wonderful job with Photo, thank you so much!! One thing in particular that needs some closer look for me is the noticeable lagging of paint brushes plus the little offset when starting to paint (leading to little gaps in drawings). I've noticed some lagging in designer as well, but since the focus is on vector drawing it is not as important as it is here.
