"I've tried a similar process with Affinity" Did you use the median blur filter in affinity? I'd be surprised if the results are different Other than that affinity has a whole bunch of different blur filters https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/16382-does-affinity-photo-have-the-equivalent-of-photoshops-maximum-minimum-filters/ Bilateral blur is the same as PS surface blur and might work as well Cheers

[AP] Multi tasking

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/37767-parallel-processing-pano-vs-rest/ Yeah pretty weird why AP locks up completely during many tasks although e.g Affinity photo and affinity photo beta can run at the same time doing these things so it's not a hardware limitation -
Curves Picker
anon1 replied to DonS's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
no you just click the part of the image which has the tone you want to preserve, done, no guessing if the color picker would have an option to average between couple pixels that would be even better -
Curves Picker
anon1 replied to DonS's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Have you used curves? If you move two points, the curve between them changes as well If you want to keep that tonality at a point in between as is, you have to fix it Good pun though :D -
Curves Picker

Placing a node on the graph without moving it is also absolutely necessary and not possible yet There are more issues with curves still https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22624-curves-and-blend-if-picker-size-visibility/?p=106288 If you want to keep a certain tonality as is Cheers -

Well As long as you just scale images down and do not rasterise, you are fine and you can scale up and down again and again as you like Just, do not rasterise Cheers -

https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/education-faq.html it is not free for students but very much reduced pricing and you can use it commercially as well " Can I use Student and Teacher Edition products commercially?Yes, Student and Teacher Edition products can be used commercially on your privately owned computer. They may not be resold. " but if you do not need ALL adobe apps, Affinity is the better deal for most people for sure -
Great ;) If you want to add something to a topic or ask a specific question, feel free to post in the corresponding thread. Cheers

If you export, the rewamplijg method can be adjusted in the export settings If you rasterise in place though AP uses something bad like nearest neighbour You can check this by 1. Open picture in document one 2. create second document with e.g. 1/4 of the pixels 3. copy the image and resize using the move tool to fit, export using langszos 4.rasterize the image and export again using the same settings (although the resamplijg method at this point will not make a difference) Affinity does not think this is an issue though https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/21222-rasterizing-algorithm/?p=99188 Cheer
