Translation for the "Monochromatic Iconography" in Preferences>User Interface

モノクロ図像 is not good.
Hard to understand what it is.

It should be モノクロアイコン.
More understandable.

Hello, I also found a mistake of translation, and I would like to share that.
When we try to close a modified document, Affinity Designer shows a dialog, and the mistake is in the dialog.

The dialog says:
“<名称未設定>は削除されています。
ドキュメントを閉じようとしています。変更内容を保存しますか?”

The English meaning is:
“<Untitled> has been deleted.
The document is about to close, would you like to save your changed?”

I think that a correct Japanese message is:
“<名称未設定>は変更されています。
ドキュメントを閉じようとしています。変更内容を保存しますか?”.

Current Dialog Images:

Version: Affinity Designer 1.7.2.471

Would you please fix this already?
This is the most confusing message that has been around since a long time ago.

On Mac, the translation of "Fill:" is cut off.(Move tool)
It supposed to be "塗りつぶし:", not "塗りつぶ"
Or 塗り might be better for the translation of "Fill" since Adobe uses Fill = 塗り、Stroke = 線

Question.
About "Construction snapping" of the node tool, which is the meaning you intended for "construction"?

1. structure
2. drawing

In a tutorial video, you translate it as "structure" in Japanese. (構造)
https://affinity.serif.com/ja-jp/tutorials/designer/desktop/video/301797512/

On the context bar of Affinity, you translate it as "drawing" in Japanese. (作図)
https://affinity.help/designer/ja.lproj/index.html?page=pages/DesignAids/constructionSnapping.html?title=カーブの作図スナップ

So it's not consistent. I want to confirm the meaning you intended.

For the "Astrophotography" filter group in AP,
天体写真 is proper translation.

Translation for the Astrophotography is inconsistent.

File menu
New Astrophotography  Stack => 新しい天体写真術スタック

Filters menu
Astrophotography  => 宇宙写真

「天体写真」is common translation.
So this would be better.

File menu
New Astrophotography  Stack => 新規天体写真スタック

Filters menu
Astrophotography  => 天体写真

Hi @ashf,

just a friendly reminder. You posted this in the Affinity Designer forum. Your suggestions for Astrophotography that is part of Affinity Photo might get overseen here.

Yes I and Serif are aware of that.
This topic has been used to improve Japanese translation of Affinity suite for a long time.
I don't remember why I created this in the Designer section in the first place.

Thank you for pointing out anyway.

Translation for the word "Export" is inconsistent.

File menu
Export => エクスポート

Persona
Export Persona => 書き出しペルソナ

Either of 書き出し or エクスポート  is ok but 書き出し is more common and Adobe uses this word.

Panorama window in Affinity Photo:
Translation for the "stitch" button should be 縫い合わせる or 繋ぎ合わせる
縫い合わせる is usually used for only fabrics.
繋ぎ合わせる is universal expression for attaching something together.

Current translation is パノラマの切り替え means "switching panorama" in English.
Not switch, should be stitch.

Window menu in all Affinity:

This is more suitable translation
Float = 分離
Float All = すべて分離

Current translation is フロート but this is not so common and Adobe uses 分離.

Translation for the word "Export" and "Import" can be improved.
They are inconsistent or not common.
This is common translation and Adobe uses.
Export = 書き出し
Import = 読み込み

Suggestion for the File menu in Photo
Export = 書き出し
Export LUT = LUTを書き出し
Import ICC Profile = ICCプロファイルを読み込み

Suggestion for the Export Persona in Photo/Designer
"Export Options" panel = 書き出しオプション
"Export preset" on Slices panel = 書き出しプリセット
In the hamburger menu on Slices panel, please replace all エクスポート with 書き出し.

Suggestion for the hamburger menu on studio panels

Swatch panel
Import palette = パレットを読み込み
Export palette = パレットを書き出し

Assets panel
Import assets = アセットを読み込み
Export assets = アセットを書き出し

Brushes panel
Import brushes = ブラシを読み込み
Export brushes = ブラシを書き出し

Styles panel
Import style category = スタイルカテゴリを読み込み
Export style category = スタイルカテゴリを書き出し

Text Styles panel
Import styles = スタイルを読み込み
Export styles = スタイルを書き出し

File menu in all Affinity:
別名で保存 is better as translation for "Save as"
It's the most common translation and Adobe and other known developers(except Microsoft) are using.

Just a question,
Why you use two different words for the color format? it's inconsistent.

In the Document Settings, you call it "Color Format."
In the Export command/Export Persona, you call it "Pixel format."

Export windows in all Affinity:

Area
Selection Area = 選択エリア
Selection Only = 選択オブジェクトのみ or 選択オブジェクト

Word-for-word translation for "Selection Only" is 選択のみ but this is kind of fuzzy what it is, sounds like the same as "Selection Area."
So 選択オブジェクトのみ(Selected Object(s) only) or 選択オブジェクト(Selected Object(s)) may be better I think...

This is mainly about Windows version.(some are applied to Mac version too)
Since this is a frequent word and affects creation of tutorials, please fix them ASAP.

Please check thoroughly all Export & Import.

Corner/Contour tool  in Affinity Designer:
アピアランスをベイク would be better as the translation for the "Bake Appearance" on the context bar.

Just Googled the translation for "Baked Potato"

Results of ベイクドポテト is 1,730,000
Results of ベークドポテト is 122,000

It seems that ベイクド is more common than ベークド, also ベイクド sounds more natural to me.
so "Bake" should be ベイク but ベーク, I think.

Question about the shape tools.
You call them "geometric shapes" on the Help.
https://affinity.help/designer/en-US.lproj/pages/CurvesShapes/about_geometricShapes.html

Is this official term for shapes created with Shape tools?
Or you just used "geometric" as an adjective?  you often call a geometric shape just "shape."
Calling both hand drawn shapes and geometric shapes "shape" is confusing.

I want to make it clear to use proper word to explain them.

Snapping Manager:

Snap to object bounding boxes = オブジェクトのバウンディングボックスにスナップ
Include bounding box mid point = バウンディングボックスの中間点を含める

バウンディングボックス is better than 境界ボックス as the translation for "bounding box" since Adobe uses it

Suggestion for the translation for the Acquire Image command in Photo(only on  Mac)

画像を取り込み
or
画像を読み込み

読み込み sounds like the same as Import, so 取り込み might be better because it's more distinctive word.
