AJBenson09
Hi, Super new to Affinity (coming over from Photoshop) and I'm slowly adjusting to it. (Any tips and pointers would be much appreciated) Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to change the brush view so it is just a large thumbnail? Also is there a hotkey to adjust the hardness and opacity? In Photoshop I had gotten used to using alt- right click, to adjust the size, opacity, and hardness. Thanks so much for the help! Staff Chris B Posted April 1, 2019 Staff Share Posted April 1, 2019 Hey AJBenson09, welcome to the Affinity Forums You can change the brush size and hardness by holding Alt and then pressing both the left and right mouse buttons. Dragging up/down will change Hardness and dragging left/right will change the brush size. Opacity can be changed by pressing the number keys. 1 being equal to 10%, 2 is 20% and so on. Note that if you press the number keys when the Brush Tool is not selected, it will change the the opacity of the layer. 4 You can't change the brush preview to a single thumbnail of that brush at the moment. A lot of the brushes have different nozzles so a static thumbnail for a particular brush might not make sense when its nozzle changes after a second click on the canvas. I'm not sure how PS handles that... Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials

You can also set opacity to intermediate values by pressing two number keys rapidly one after the other. For example, to get 12% press 1 quickly followed by pressing 2, & to get 1% press 0 (zero) quickly followed but pressing 1. Pressing 0 (zero) sets opacity to 100%, as does pressing 3 number keys quickly, one after the other. Hadn't notice the fine tune aspect of it (the 1% stuff) as am using in every app since a while the disc for brush size.... Edit : That very sentence made no sense : had too many coffees that day.
