hfrancis
In the colour panel there is normally a foreground and background colour, and you can press X to switch between them. For one photo I'm working on the background colour has disappeared (I tried to use the colour picker for once). So there is only one (larger) circle. How to I get the background colour to come back again?
walt.farrell
What kind of layer do you have selected? For example, if you're working in a fill layer I think you'll have only one color available: the fill color. carl123 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
HVDB Photography
Maybe the layer is an (image) layer instead of a (pixel) layer,if so right click on the layer and choose rasterise Quote Affinity Photo 2.3.1 Laptop MSI Prestige PS42 Windows 11 Home 23H2 (Build 22631.3007) - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.00 GHz - RAM 16,0 GB

hfrancis
Thanks everyone, I had been working on a fill layer at the time it happened. I thought that it still stayed like that even when I deselected the fill layer and selected another (non-fill) layer, but it's possible that I was mistaken as it all seems to be back to normal now. The Legend
I tried to Place an RGB colour image into a Greyscale image and the colour turned to Greyscale. I had to save the B/W image in RGB mode (which still looks like black and white) and then the colour image placed as colour. I also discovered that if you open a Greyscale image in Affinity Photo, the colour palette disappears so, if I wanted to insert colour text onto a B/W image I had to save the B/W image as RGB first. This is for people, like myself, who are novices and still learning some of Affinity's tricks.
