Background colour disappeared

Recommended Posts

In the colour panel there is normally a foreground and background colour, and you can press X to switch between them.

For one photo I'm working on the background colour has disappeared (I tried to use the colour picker for once).

So there is only one (larger) circle.

How to I get the background colour to come back again?

What kind of layer do you have selected? For example, if you're working in a fill layer I think you'll have only one color available: the fill color.

Thanks everyone, I had been working on a fill layer at the time it happened. I thought that it still stayed like that even when I deselected the fill layer and selected another (non-fill) layer, but it's possible that I was mistaken as it all seems to be back to normal now.

I tried to Place an RGB colour image into a Greyscale image and the colour turned to Greyscale. I had to save the B/W image in RGB mode (which still looks like black and white) and then the colour image placed as colour. I also discovered that if you open a Greyscale image in Affinity Photo, the colour palette disappears so, if I wanted to insert colour text onto a B/W image I had to save the B/W image as RGB first. This is for people, like myself, who are novices and still learning some of Affinity's tricks.
