simple Save As

Recommended Posts

You don't need to go to the Export Persona to do a simple export. The 'Export' option in the Pixel Persona will do the job.

'Save' and 'Save As...' are reserved for saving in the native file format, guaranteeing that nothing will be flattened, rasterized or converted to curves.

"Save As" or "Export", this is the same one click operation.

Export (menu) is perfect way for fast and single image creation.

Export Persona is a tool for repeatedly exporting multiple images.

Nevertheless: I have to export. My workflow is as follows: my base is Lightroom. Suppose I want to edit something in Affinity, I have to export from Lightroom. A TIFF is created. After doing the things in Affinity, I have to export again. Go back to Lightroom and import as a new file, while at the same time I have to delete the old file Lightroom created in the first place.

Exporting in NIK, Photoshop or ON1 saves the changes in the original file.

I know we say that, but it's not really true for Save. If you edit a .jpg file, for example, and make adjustments to it that do not result in adding layers (or, if you flatten the layers) then Save (File->Save or ctrl-s) will happily re-save that .jpg file with your modifications.

If you've added layers, and try to Save the .jpg, you'll get a dialog asking whether you want to save flattened or not. If you respond to save flattened, then, again, your .jpg is re-saved with the modifications.

The same is (I presume, but have not tested) true for TIFF files.

"Save As" seems to be reserved for saving in the native .afphoto format, though.

And why your topic is "simple Save As"?

If you "Save" to same file, is no problem (see walt.farrell), or Export to same file name.

Why do you create a copy, that you need to rename?

Yes, TIFF save with layers.

From what I understand, when opening and editing a file it is enough to just press CTRL+S, no need to export.  I did like that successfully with jpeg images created elsewhere. But anyway, clicking on "save as" button or clicking on "export" does the exact same thing. Export button is just a bit lower on the menu.
