My V1 macros work OK in V2. I have a set of macros recorded in V1.6 to modify  the dpi of an image because the macro engine post 1.6 will not do this correctly. They work fine in V2.

What is your OS/platform? What is your version?

When I attempt to load macro it is not visible, bult I know its there.

In the import load screen no macros show, but in the selection box I type *.afmacros I can see it, but selecting to load, nothing is loaded.

Just tried again, now it doesnt even show import option…..thats because file not loaded, but still doesnt display macro.

It had default name so renamed it, but no different.

V2.52 installed today, havent rebooted yet.

I deleted some macros from the macro library resaved it, and it is now visible.

One of the macros in it I downloaded from here, I suspect it was a V2 macro all others V1, maybe V2 lib didnt like a collection of v1 and v2 macros in same lib, dunno.

What do you mean by "the import load screen"? Where specifically are you typing " *.afmacros"?

The usual way to import *.afmacros files into AD is from the 'burger' menu in the Library panel. OTOH, *.afmacro files (no plural) containing only a single macro can only be loaded into the Macro panel when a document is open, & from there optionally added to the Library.

@R C-RThe macro library was originally created in V1, where macros plural is the extension that is saved.

V2 uses extension .afmacro not .afmacros.

In the picture you can see where I typed in *.afmacros. I wasn't expecting the extension name change and didnt notice.

I prefer the GUI on V! so dont use V2 unless forced to, so not that familiar with the differences.

It might also appear that V1 saves a library of macros where maybe V2 saves individual macro hence the incompatibility and extension name change.

ps I only recognized there were separate options for exporting and importing macros.

As @R C-R has explained, a *.afmacro file contains a single macro. A *.afmacros file contains a collection of macros.

This is not new in version 2. Version 1 makes the same distinction, as it has always done.

@Alfred So why does V1 attach a .afmacros extension on to an export, which is not seen by V2.

In V1 how to export a single macro as I recall the only place the export option is available in V1 is in the library and library exports a library not a single macro.

If they work the same way, why is my exported library from V1 not visible in V2, unless you are suggesting there are 2 options for import and export, one for libraries and the other one for individual macros.

@R C-R explained that, too:

In other words, if you want to work with *.afmacros files you need to use the Library panel, but if you want to work with *.afmacro files you need to use the Macros panel instead. (The iPad version of AD only imports *.afmacros files, so if you’re sharing a single macro with iPad users you need to export it as a ‘collection’ of one macro.)
