Updating to v2.5.0 Publisher hangs and displays blurred text

@PeterAG your screenshots look as though you are seeing a linked document that is displaying its preview and not its contents. Does the document contain (for example) a linked PDF? It could be that the file path to the linked document is no longer valid.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

No linked PDFs and fonts are Google fonts on my laptop. The doc startts ok but then (after 20 seconds?) becomes blurred and the Application hangs. Have reinstalled previous version  and all is well.

Could you share which fonts are used in the document? I'd like to create a document with those fonts in a previous version and then open it in 2.5.

Do you have static and variable versions of the same Google fonts installed by any chance?

Are you using a font manager, and if so which one?

I use the Apple Font Manager. Fonts are Google PT Sans Narrow and Libre Baskerville. I think its a memory issue becasue smaller docs work. THis doc loads and looks ok for about 20 seconds then hangs and becomes blurred.

On my reserve laptop - MacBook Air with Apple M2 chip and running Sonoma 14.5 the file loads and the application doesn't hang. On my 16" Macbook Pro (2019) also running Sonoma 14.5 the 17MB file hangs and distorts texts, 13MB files don't. Just reinstalled on Macbook Pro and it has hung. Attcahed is a PDF of Activity Monitor and a screen shot of the Publishers data solus.

@PeterAGWould it be possible to get a copy of the file and all the resources uploaded here. It must not be done as a package. We think the issue is related to preflight checks and embedded documents and need a sample

The issue "2.5 Publisher users experiencing freezing, crashing, or text not displaying" (REF: AF-3191) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.5.2.2478".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.
