How to change text rendering to None like PS?

It is a really poor workaround with small point sizes.

Hence my deliberate usage of the word "somewhat"… ;)

Even for "somewhat" it is too far from the requested solution which at least would result in an identical appearance for same glyphs, independent from their x/y position. Compare the OP's initial screenshot of the wanted goal with the different rendering of your workaround: every of the 6 characters has another look. (the bottom row has a different curve map set)

In my experience non-antialiased rendering of text works identically in any app that supports the feature. I have tested so far Photoshop, GIMP, CorelPHOTO-PAINT (both Windows and macOS), and Acorn. All these apps also can fetch hinted versions of glyphs (e.g. TrueType hints for 2 and 5 for LiSu), but more generally: they do non-antialiased rendering identically for any fonts I have tested, whether hinted or not, whether TrueTypes or PostScript based outlines.

Affinity apps basically just turn on all antialiased pixels above certain threshold:

...and here is how it is done in Acorn (and PS, CorelPHOTO-PAINT and GIMP, and...):

Does this mean Affinity has issues with its core design?

And you're absolutely right, of course.
Hence also my deliberate usage of the word "emulate".

sigh… :S

I don't think it's an "issue" per se. This feature just isn't implemented.
So you may want to request it: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/52-feedback-suggestions

Or perhaps we're only holding it wrong…? :35_thinking:

Unfortunately, after comparison, I found that Affinity is one of the few software that cannot display properly, which is very bad.

@Dan CSorry buddy, I need @ you. I hope to use Affinity to truly replace Photoshop. Although Affinity currently does not have any AI tools like Photoshop, that is not necessary, but the display issue is very serious.

As other users have confirmed above, this feature is simply not directly present in Affinity currently.

You can create a new Feedback post if you want these options to be considered in the future.

They already have, following my advice:

It has already been created
