Affinity Photo closes when image is closed

Recommended Posts

I've been doing some focus stacks, typically 130 raw/NEF images. I notice that the program immediately closes when I close the file after working on it a bit. The release version doesn't do this. System is 6-7 years old with Windows 10 PRO, running on an Intel Processor (i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4008 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)), 16 GB memory. Everything works as expected and the file does save OK, but not sure why the program then closes. I'm saving an afphoto file type.

Why are you using the beta, especially if the retail version works?

Seems like a peculiar question for the beta forum. Obviously, to find issues like this in the beta versions so they can get sorted before the next release.

But there is no current beta active. Both beta and retail are the same release, 2.4.0.2031.

Or were you meaning that you haven't updated your retail release to 2.4.0 yet, and you're still at 2.3.1 there, perhaps?

Please can you compare the performance tab of the settings option (under Edit menu) and perhaps show us some screenshots of performance settings of Release 2.4.0 and Beta 2.4.0

Hi @Conrad Hoffman

I've just tried this on both Retail and Release and neither of those close when I save an edited raw file. How are you closing the file? Are you going to File > Close or clicking the X in the corner of the document tab?

Does this happen if you start from a blank document, drop some shapes and text etc. and then save? What happens if you open the .afphoto file, do some edits and then save that?

I cannot imagine it would be specific to the raw file type you're processing but it might be worth attaching a sample.

OK, I'm back to the machine I was working on and tried with the same file after a clean start. Sure enough, no problem at all, so something must have gotten confused during the stack. It's 130 Nikon NEF files, so stresses the machine a bit. I'll need to redo the stack to test any further, but it doesn't seem to be a critical item.
