Display bug using 2 monitors

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have attached second monitor (LG 32") positioned on the right side of the MacBook laptop in Display Settings and everything was OK until I disconect the LG. Now, when I open a new document in any Affinity apps (beta or retail) I can't get the full page with <COMMAND> <0> or any other shortcut. It looks like the upper and right part of the page is lost on the second monitor. The tools and Studio panels are lost, too.

I have the impression this happens every time I change to another monitor with a different (smaller?) size. In all three Affinity apps.

There's a workaround (there has to be a file open).

First: Menu -> Window -> Float View to Window.

Then: Menu -> Window -> Merge All Windows.

Huh. I've already shutdown the Mac. I'll try it tommorow, but anyway, this must be sorted out by A-Team.

It would not be a surprise to me if this appeared to be related with this other post:

I don't think so. The problem on my Mac appeared when I disconected the second monitor.

I have a setup with 2 monitors with 2 pc's running on the same screens and a shared keyboard and mouse.
But if I switch the connection and some programs are running on a second screen I can't reach it just like you.
This is only to be sorted by going in the settings and change the setup from 2 to 1 monitor display.
I think there must be a setting on mac for this too?

Hi,
I had the same problem switching from 2 dispays to singe display.
All the guides from this communication here did not work for me.
Finally I switched Affinity Photo 2 off, in the Finder I used the "Go" menu:

and deleted the complete folder:
~Library / Application Support / Affinity Photo 2

After restarting Affinity Photo 2 the behaviour of the windows was as desired.

Please be careful with this approach, I do not know how many presets might be lost.

The issue "[macOS] App Window Disappears after disconnecting and re-connecting an external monitor between app sessions" (REF: AF-417) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.4.0.2211".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Hi Petar,

There have been some changes in this area regarding 2.4.0 and we believe some of the ways to trigger this issue has been fixed. Would you mind retrying it for us and letting us know if this is still an issue for you please?

At this moment my MacBook is not connected to the second display and in this state I updated the apps to 2.4.0. After instalation, Designer loaded correctly but, for Photo and Publisher I had to change the resolution and now they work correctly.

I will connect the Mac to the second monitor ASAP and test the apps again and I will let you know.

Meanwhile, thank you very much for the great support.

You're welcome! I have actually been able to reproduce it 2.4.0 unfortunately, but have found the steps to be picky and also had to force the external screen to be 'Main Display' and without doing that I wasn't able to reproduce the issue.

I've just done it and they work great!

Thanks again.
