Twolane Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 I've tried multiple times now. Task Manager can't kill them. Is this a feature, or a bug? walt.farrell Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 I have no problem on Windows 11 with killing the apps from task Manager. However, the running processes should have a "2" after the name, as below: This leads me to suspect that either: You did not use the intended installation path (run the MSIX program), but instead used one of the unsupported alternative methods. or You're ran the unofficial 2.0.3 EXE-based installer that Patrick Connor made available a few days ago. Can you confirm if which, if either, of these applies to you? That may help diagnose the problem. Twolane Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 I ran the MSIX as downloaded and installed same with a double-click. I will note that eventually, the processes clear themselves, but when I'm trying to work, it's frustrating to not have TM kill the processes. I might add that this has only recently begun for me. Edited to add that after closing the program normally, AP still appears in the TM with a crashpad_handler.exe attached Quote 1) MacBook M3 Pro 18/512 - Now my daily driver. 2) I liked it so much I added an M4 Air. walt.farrell Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Thanks. All that seems strange, along with the missing "2" from the process names. Twolane Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 It's not a deal breaker for me. I just thought I'd ask about it, since they linger for quite a while after closing. Or crashing. Twolane Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 I neglected to mention that I did not run Patrick's .exe-based installers, either. walt.farrell Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Well, I was on Win 10 earlier. I didn't expect a 10 vs 11 difference, and I've never noticed that one before that I can remember. I'll look later. Twolane Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 I don't want to turn this into another complaining thread. I'm a happy user of Affinity all the way round. I was working on yet another POD book in Publisher when the difficulty popped up. The POD book is done and good to go on Ingram Spark and Amazon, regardless of whether it's a bug or a feature. Thank you Affinity for your continued efforts with v2. firstdefence 1 Quote 1) MacBook M3 Pro 18/512 - Now my daily driver. 2) I liked it so much I added an M4 Air. Twolane Posted January 27, 2023 Author Posted January 27, 2023 Interesting. I uninstalled all three 2.04 msix installs, and reinstalled them. It now appears as though they quit clean. Task Manager is showing them doing such. The 2.04 msix files were installed over Dan's Patrick's 2.03 early update files. Not sure if that had anything to do with the quitting and "hanging on" Task Manager problems or not. In any event, don't be shy about uninstalling and re-installing. All of my many brushes, assets, &c. were picked up by the new installs unscathed. What a great trio of programs. They just keep getting better and better.
