WatcherJoshua Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I was clearing out some unused applications and thought I would remove the V1 copies of Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo, but I stopped when I saw the file sizes. Is V2 really 1/10 the size of V1? Is it safe to remove V1 through the Settings panel or is V2 expecting it to be there? Thanks. Quote
walt.farrell Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Version 2 does not need any of V1. I think that Windows is just showing a misleading number, and simply not counting the bulk of the apps. FunkyGrl Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Is there anyone in this forum that works for the company that is going to answer the question about how to do a clean uninstall of version 1 once you migrate version 2? I am on a Mac. Quote
Staff Callum Posted December 16, 2022 Staff Posted December 16, 2022 Hi All, @WatcherJoshua You can safely uninstall V1 MSIX apps hide a lot of their files which causes Windows to think the apps are smaller than they are. @FunkyGrl You just need to drag the V1 apps from your applications folder to the trash bin Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
FunkyGrl Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) Hi. That’s actually not true. There are also files in the Library on a Mac and I wanted to know if there were any others in other areas to cleanly uninstall all of it. That’s what my question was asking. markw Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 @FunkyGrl For many years now have used the free app AppCleaner for removing apps and their associated support folders/files. It will show you a list of all the things it finds associated with the app in question and let you decide exactly which items it should remove. So be sure to read the list carefully before committing! If you do it manually for the Affinity apps then where their support folders/files are will depend on where you originally bought the app/s from. FunkyGrl Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I don’t trust 3rd party apps like that. Here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98906-what-exactly-do-the-clear-user-data-options-clear/ Quote

If you want to manually remove everything related to V1 from your Mac look in ~/Library/Containers & in ~/Library/Application Support for the relevant folders. In the containers one look for items whose names begin with com.seriflabs & one of the V1 product names like com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner & in ~/Library/Application Support for ones with the product name as two words, like Affinity Designer (but without a "2" suffix!!!). Personally, I would not do this without a good backup of everything in those locations just in case something gets deleted that should not be.
