V2 Mac Installation Problems

Recommended Posts

I'm using Mac OS Monterey 12.6.  I purchased and downloaded V2 suite.  I followed directions and placed the downloaded files in my Applications folder.  In the folder they appear as disk images.  When click on the image, the double click on the app icon, I'm welcomed to a 30 day trial and taken thru an initial setup sequence...each time I try to bring up the app.

Help!

Hi, you don't want to put the DMG files in your Applications directory. Keep those files in your Downloads directory. Double click a DMG to open it and then drag the application icon inside of it to your Applications folder. Then unmount the DMG (by clicking the icon that appears when you hover over them in the left nav of a Finder window) and delete the DMGs. My apologies if this is what you've done and we just have a language or terminology barrier.

I'm having an installation goat parade!

Can you send me a screenshot of this step ...  "Then unmount the DMG (by clicking ....  delete the DMGs."  I am totally flummoxed and am left with disk images on my desktop.   Cant remember ever having this much trouble installing software.

BTW, after dragging the app icon into my Applications folder,m the icons in the folder display a small arrow on the lower left corner, and disk images appear in the upper right corner of my desktop.

Purchased the full V2 license from the Apple Store.   None of the apps will open properly, and I only get the window to either register (which takes me to your website and then tells me I don't have a license) or run in demo mode.  The "RESTORE PURCHASES" link at the bottom doesn't work in any of the programs, on the mac or ipad.  I'm using Monterey, Macbook Pro M1Max.

Hopefully this bug can be fixed soon.

In the left side of a Finder window should be a grey sidebar. If it's not there choose View > Show Sidebar. To the right of the Affinity DMG (disk image) that you "mounted" will be a dark grey icon with an upright triangle and a bar under it - this is the eject icon. Click this icon to "eject" the DMG, this is like ejecting a floppy disk.

Hi @Guttersaint,

Could you try deactivating the software in your account settings Help > My Account, (probably best to do this in all of the apps) then sign in with the app that you created your initial sign in on.

Hopefully this should resolve that issue.

Hi again, I don't understand what you mean.  In the Serif account I have, the new license doesn't show up at all.  In the Apple Appstore (where I purchased this from), there is no "My Account" in the HELP menu.  That is accessed through another area, and the three apps (v2) show up there as being purchased.  However, when I open the app itself, I just get the same screen and the RESTORE PURCHASES link doesn't work in any of them.   So there we are....stuck.   Any other advice?

To All.  Thank you!  The apps are installed and all seem to work.

A NOTE TO SERIF:  I use Affinity Photo almost every day.  I perform Mac OS administrative functions MAYBE a few times a year.  So, it would be infinitely less frustrating if your installation instructions were a bit more robust, more detailed, even to the point of including an additional screenshot or two (picture's worth a thousand words, many of which are expletives) similar to MikeTO's inclusion above.  Your products are peerless, your instructions leave a bit to be desired...

I think Lee was saying to open each Affinity app and then choose My Account from the Affinity app menu. If the command is disabled just created a new document and it will be enabled. Then click the "Deactivate this device" link in the window that opens. Do this for each of the three apps and then open the app that you created your initial sign on with. Sign in with that app but that's as much help as I can suggest, I don't want to deactivate my apps right now to see what it looks like after that point. 🙂

Note that  "Accept" is greyed out.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Note that you haven't ticked/checked the box that says you accept the terms of the agreement (above the Quit button).

Ah, the black on black box. I hate the recent trend towards minimalism in design.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Apparently, this is because the devs hate seeing high contrast in the UI.

  • 10 months later...

I’m having this problem now. Last week I upgraded my Mac to Sonoma and lost Affinity Designer. I’ve been communicating with the Affinity people and tried to reinstall as per their instructions but nothing works. This reopen window keeps showing the same thing over and over. I’m considering just purchasing the Designer 2 program and try to get reimbursed.
