Chillr2021 Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Hi, one thing I'd love to be able to do if there is a way to look through my various fonts without having the blue outline, with other things I press space and the blue outline goes but with text tool it just puts spaces in the font field, is there a trick to this that I'm missing as find it hard to visualize my text with this blue outline. GarryP Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 It would help us to advise you if you could supply a full-screen screenshot which shows the “blue outline”. Quote
Chillr2021 Posted July 26, 2022 Author Posted July 26, 2022 Sure, sorry didn't think of that, mine always has this blue outline and I'd like it without really, as I scroll through to find a font it always there. Quote
joe_l Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Assuming you are using Affinity Publisher, just hit the Preview Mode button from the top toolbar. The one looking like a windscreen wiper. Quote ---------- Windows 10 / 11, Complete Suite Retail and Beta
Staff NathanC Posted July 26, 2022 Staff Posted July 26, 2022 Alternatively to disabling preview mode in Publisher, you can also disable the outline by going to View > Untick Show Text Flow. joe_l 1 Quote

For future reference, if we can see a full-screen screenshot we can also see: 1. Which Application is being used – not everyone reports the correct one. 2. Which Persona is being used. 3. Which Tool is being used. 4. If the Context Toolbar is visible and what (most of) the settings are for the current tool. 5. Which Display Mode is being used. 6. If the Rulers are being displayed, and if so we can see the document Unit of Measure and have an idea of the sizes of some layers. Etc. Etc. Without all of that information we may need to ask further questions just to get some basic information, which would mean that any answer will take longer to come by. NathanC 1 Quote
Chillr2021 Posted July 26, 2022 Author Posted July 26, 2022 Sorry thought you just meant a screenshot of the text, here is a full page screenshot of the whole software GarryP 1 Quote

The "full-application" screenshot will also provide the mentioned information. Full-screen can in some cases cause the unwanted leakage of sensitive information, such as personal or company documents, personal or company data and emails. Please stop leading inexperienced users into potentially risky activities. Luckily the OP is experienced and therefore only provides "full page screenshot of the whole software". P.S. Just a minor addition - I would add "Which OS is being used" to the top of the list. Not every user has it listed in their signature, and due to the differences in applications for different OSes, this can be quite crucial information. The provision of full-application screenshots, with which user questions can be answered more easily and meaningfully, should be specified in the forum rules for the Questions section, as specified in the Report and Bug section. It is unnecessary to repeatedly ask users to clarify their questions with a screenshot. Old Bruce Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Select the text with the text tool, switch to the hand tool and now use the Character Panel from View > Studios > Character. Thank you so much Bruce, you legend, worked a treat. I'm dumb I never even thought it might be different in the font field in character. One thing I did notice though it sadly misses the favourites option in character. Quote
