adrm
I have a .docx, converted from .epub. It opens fine in MS Word and saves without issues from there. It contains graphics and links. If placed into any new Publisher document, it will always cause a crash to desktop.
walt.farrell
Are you trying to Place the original converted version, or the version after you Saved in Word, @adrm? What version of Publisher? Can you share the .docx that is crashing Publisher? -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. adrm
I tried placing both the original converted document and the version I saved from Word. I believe the original caused a crash immediately, while the Word saved one took marginally longer (1 second?) As the subject says, it's v1.10.2.1156 beta, which is the latest public beta, I believe. This is a public domain book from the Gutenberg Project, so I see no harm in sharing it. How to Get Married, Although a - Young Widow.docx
MikeTO
FWIW it crashes for me when placing, too. It would be interesting to open this in MS Word and to re-save it and then test it again to verify whether it's a valid Word file - it may have been exported from another app and be malformed. Publisher shouldn't crash regardless but it's worth checking. I don't have Word on my personal laptop so I can't check but when I opened it in Apple Pages I noted that the tables were malformed which makes me suspect this was exported from another app. Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.5 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.5 for macOS Sequoia 15.0.1, MacBook Pro 14" (M1 Pro)
adrm
I did test it in Word, and save it from there, without issues. It still makes Publisher keel over.
walt.farrell
The file you posted kills Publisher for me, too. I opened your file in LibreOffice and saved a copy, and that one works for me. So, LibreOffice has managed to do something differently than Word (or your conversion program) has done with the original. That may provide some information to help Serif in diagnosing the problem. MikeW
FWIW, the OP's .docx does not crash APub 1.9.x release on Windows here. And yep, I know this is a beta thread. Patrick Connor and walt.farrell
