alansky
When will Affinity be ready to unveil a Photoshop replacement for the Mac?
Staff Andy Somerfield Posted October 2, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 2, 2014 The public beta of Affinity Photo will begin within 8 weeks. The beta will work the same way as the Designer beta :) Hope this helps, AndyS 000

Raskolnikov
The question is... will we be able to open an Affinity Desingner's document into Affinity Photo, or must be exported/imported? :)
Staff Andy Somerfield Posted October 2, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 2, 2014 Photo will open the same documents! And, if you have both products installed, you can immediately switch from Designer <--> Photo and *keep your undo history* :) AndyS rui_mac and Raskolnikov
Raskolnikov
Perfect! :D So will be one format extension to rule them all? Designer/Photo/Publisher?
Staff Andy Somerfield Posted October 2, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 2, 2014 3 extensions, affinity_designer, affinity_photo, affinity_publisher - but all apps can open all formats :) AndyS
Raskolnikov
Great! yes, every app has his own functions and naturally his own format :) but being able to open those 3 formats on every of these 3 apps sounds great!! , quick!
Staff Ben Posted October 2, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 2, 2014 I can't wait until you all get to try out our "Open in Affinity Photo" button in Designer. It will take your currently open document in Affinity Designer, along with the current command history and state, and quickly open it in Photo. A bit more streamline than closing a doc, then opening it in another app. You'll even be able to undo/redo changes you made in the other app. Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB

I am actually very happy with Photoshop CS6; but as everyone knows, Photoshop is now an end-of-life product unless one wants to jump on the Adobe CC bandwagon. Not. Raskolnikov
Big companies as Ad0be use to make big programss in size... difficult to adapt to fast changes and simplify itself.
