zio_johnny
Hello, in the new version, the focus stacking does not work properly, indeed it does not work at all! I load the photos as usual, the software performs its calculations, and then returns what you can see in the screenshot: I don't have the final photo, and even one of the source photos is not working. The problem always exists, initially I tried with 8 photos and the software didn't work, I was thinking about a hardware issue so I tried with only 3 photos, but the result doesn't change! Please resolve as soon as possible! Thank you!

Bill_H
I also have the same issue (Win 10 pro OS bld 19042.746). upgraded to Affinity Photo 1.9 (1.9.0.932) yesterday (after completing some focus stacks successfully). Now not working at all. With ~ 20 images it seemed to 'align merged sources' OK and then half way through the 'focus merge' the screen goes black with a few large blocks of color, which then disappear. The process runs to completion to give a black screen; in the Sources window the Focus merged image is completely black, the first image in the stack is speckled grey and the rest of the stack image thumbnails appear to show correctly. Edit - just tried a small stack that fails above with the (GPU) Hardware Acceleration turned OFF (Edit->Preferences->Performance), it seems to work... Tony Stocks
I've tried focus stacking 16 .jpg images. It works but the resulting image has a broad black bar across the bottom obscuring about a quarter of the image. I'm using it on a Windows 10 PC with the latest OS update. Garry Owen
Same here. Focus Merge seems to run as normal through the Align Merge Sources process. Focus Merge starts building the image up OK until two thirds down the frame. At that point there is a sort of "melting" effect. (see screenshot) I have tried using JPG and Raw files. Also with the same batch of files used to create a focus merge using Photo 1.8. footeg
Hi, this problem was reported in the 1.9 Beta forum. It definitely appears to be a problem with the OpenCL hardware acceleration which is enabled by default on installation of 1.9. Turning off that option in Edit>Preferences>Performance should enable the focus merge function to work fine. See the beta posts at https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/132111-focus-merge/. Hope this helps.

rolfbe
Another issue here, actiavte a big clone brush. do a focus merge when calculationis done and open cl is enabled the clone brush has a lot of artifacts the toolbar looks like: not reproducible with open cl disabled any suggestions? thx from Germany Rolf
footeg
There seem to be a number of issues with OpenCL. I have disabled it on my installation & it seems that applications like Focus Merge & Panoramas seem to work faster with it disabled. Maybe one of the developers would like to comment on whether the hardware acceleration feature is all it is working at all in the Windows version of Affinity Photo 1.9. ceckhoff
Bei mir war die Lösung: Bearbeiten / Einstellungen / Performance / Hardwarebeschleunigung abschalten. My solution was: Edit / Settings / Performance / Turn off hardware acceleration.
Mark Ingram
We've just added a fix for hardware accelerated Focus Merge. It's available in the latest beta build if you would like to try it: Chris B
footeg
Hi Mark, from the limited attempts I have tried with this latest beta the Focus Merge now works with hardware acceleration enabled. Thanks for the prompt fix & I will continue to try the latest beta as time permits. Geoff Chris B

Marek17
Hi, I had an issue as well after installing ver. 1.9. Processing time was very very long and the result unpleasant, or nothing. I also saw strange toolbar. To get some result i had to reduced amount of images to about 10. But after installing A/M version 1.9.1.943 everything looks fine again. Thank you.
