safoster71
i could be wrong, but i remember being able to make a non destructive boolean object, use it as a mask, and then modify the boolean as its a mask. It doesn't seem to do that anymore, but instead makes the boolean object a kind of un manipulatable/un editable object.... am i doing something wrong? Staff Leigh Posted September 10, 2015 Staff Share Posted September 10, 2015 You need to press ALT/OPTION when pressing the boolean button to create a non-destructive boolean :)
Staff MEB Posted September 10, 2015 Staff Share Posted September 10, 2015 Hi safoster71, I don't think that was possible before... You can edit single shapes while using them as masks, but not compounds. Unless i missed something.... safoster71
actually i did hit the option key, and it made it a compound path, but it lost that when i dragged it onto the object to mask - making it literally a uneducable object. HOWEVER - i have figured out how to do what i originally described! Its just the ORDER you do things in that matters. Which means you can edit the mask after the fact... See the playing around example attached :-) example.afdesign
safoster71
ps. the bitmap ability in the gradation tool is an AWESOME idea :-)
ronnyb
Miguel, I think I just found a weird bug. Try this: Using the attached file on this post, open it in the latest beta, then select the shape with wavy bitmap pattern fill (in the group called Compound in the Layers palette), select the Gradient tool, then click on the wavy bitmap thumbnail icon next to the Fill label on the Gradient tool's Context Toolbar. You should get the Color wheel pop-up palette. When I click anywhere along the Hue ring, or in fact when changing any color slider on any Color palette mode, AD rotates the bitmap pattern 90°, as if I were clicking the rotate gradient button.... Doesn't seem like this is intended behavior... Hi safoster71, I don't think that was possible before... You can edit single shapes while using them as masks, but not compounds. safoster71
in that same vein.. attempting to change the opacity of the bitmap will rescale the image increasingly smaller.. kinda strange ronnyb
