Gear maker Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 In the new beta, when creating a new document, the Create button is blank and white. It still functions. Used on a mac running Sierra. iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra

SPaceBar Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Hi @Gear maker Thanks for the screenshot, oddly I couldn't reproduce this on my Sierra iMac. This was from a fresh boot. Did you do this from a fresh boot and is it always missing? I'm just wondering if I'm missing any steps. Thanks

Thanks SPaceBar, I just restarted my computer. Then only opened the beta Designer. The same issue, Create is blank. I use separated mode so I tried non-separated mode, same problem. So I opened Opera, my chosen internet browser, and noticed that the Create became visible. So I clicked on AD and the Create went blank again. When another application, I tried a few, has focus the create is visible. But when AD has focus the create is blank. So I tried the dark interface and the Create button works correctly. Back to the light interface and it's blank again when AD has focus. If I open Preferences then the Create is visible. If I click in the gray area so no preset is selected then a grayed out Create is displayed. But as soon as I click on any preset then Create is gone. I hope that helps to find this issue. Thanks for your help. Mike SPaceBar 1 iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra
SPaceBar Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Hi Mike, I've just switched to light mode and it is indeed missing the text on the "Create" button. I'll get that issue logged. Thanks Gear maker 1

SPaceBar Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 Thanks @Gear maker I couldn't get a screenshot of this on my Sierra iMac as every time I click the icon for Grab the button text appears and when I click back to Affinity Designer it disappears again. 👍

SPaceBar Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 Thanks @anon2 I would have used that if it had been on my Catalina machine. Sadly my Sierra iMac it doesn't have the screenshot functionality built in which is why I was using Grab. It's sorted now though anyway. Thanks @Gear maker 👍

SPaceBar Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 @anon2 My bad, as Grab was pre-installed I just always used that. I didn't notice the change between my different machines. 👍
fde101 Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 The Command+Shift+3 shortcut predates MacOS X - it has been around apparently since System 2.0 in the mid-1980s: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/4140/where-does-command-shift-3-or-command-shift-4-for-taking-screen-captures-origi There are a few other related shortcuts that can be used to grab individual windows or portions of the screen, etc: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361 SPaceBar 1
SPaceBar Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 I've been using Grab on my old machines for many years now: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/grab/welcome/mac I was surprised when it was phased out with Mojave

Grab does add one option to the built-in shortcuts prior to Mojave: the option to take a timed screenshot (screenshot after a delay). In Mojave the Command+Option+5 option was added which provides this feature as well as video recording (which in earlier versions of macOS can be done using QuickTime Player - and yes it seems strange to use "player" to capture video) over the offerings in prior versions.
