Monika_Publisher
Hello, I just downloaded and tested the trial version of Publisher. Everytime i write "österr." (German abbrevatian of Austrian) the program crashes the exact moment I type the dot. I use a completly new file. It doesn't matter, whether it is a text frame or graphic. If I change any letter, the problem doesn't occur. (Also when I change from ö to oe) I am using Windows 10 Pro V 10.0.18363 and the latest version of Publisher. Thanks in advance for your help! Wosven
Hi, That's strange. I don't have this problem. Does it occurs too with ë , ü or ä too?
Monika_Publisher
Yes, I tried - and it worked (also Ö) it´s exactly this combination. I tried for example öster. oesterr. öterr. It all works. Just not österr.
Gitta
Hi Monika, try to open the attached Afpub file. Abbreviatur.afpub
Monika_Publisher
Opening it works. I also can edit the text. Writing österr. in the same line, where it is already written is possible. But writing it in any other line (also them with text) crashes Publisher
Joachim_L
Hi Monika, I have no crash here. Maybe it could help to reset APu (backup your stuff first). Beside this: a) What language is set for the text frame? Deutsch (Österreich)? If yes, try another language. b) Is the crash also happening with the latest beta? c) Does it help to add österr. (with the dot to Abbreviations / Abkürzungen) in preferences? d) Does it help to add österr (without the dot) to the dictionary via right-click and learn? Monika_Publisher
Okay, seems like I found the problem. I had a look for the abbrevations in the settings and there was "Österr." on top of the list. I don't have any clue how it has gotten there. Maybe Publisher added it automatically? I deleted it from the list and now I can write österr. without crashing Publisher! Thanks a lot for your help! Joachim_L
Joachim_L
Glad you found a solution, but this is still a bug. Joachim_L
Tested this myself. Added Österr. to abbreviation (important to write it there with a big Ö) and wrote österr. (with a small or big ö makes no difference). Result: After typing the dot, APu instantly freezes, so I have to end the process and get therefore no crash log. Fritz_H
Info: It crashes with any abbreviation starting with an "umlaut":
