Ricardo Sandoval
Hi; I have some questions when I open a raw file in Affinty Photo: The image is desaturated at all I don't know why. The file have no information about the lens who I used, in the video attach you can see.... the camera was Sony a7MIII and the objetive was SAMYANG AF 85mm F1.4 FE (so this objetive must be automaticly detectec for the lens correction) The last and most important is when I end the correction with my favorite profile of SAMYANG and go to Develop Persona in the name of the file the correction was changed to SAMYANG AF 35mm 1.4. Can you help me with this doubts please and said me who can i solve. Thanks in advance Ricardo Sandoval Grabación_de_pantalla_2020-09-24_a_las_21_47_06.mov
Old Bruce
Couple of things, Use the search function instead of looking in 'Favourites'. Type the name of the lens into the red area and you'll get a list. and finally you can try to use the Assistant to assign the lens profile automatically. Go to View > Assistant Manager then choose the Develop Assistant... I have some old Nikkor glass I use on my Canon so there is no lens information but I can still choose the correct focal length for correction. It is the focal length that is important, although I will wager that there are some zooms which really need the correct file. kirkt
Have you verified that the lens model contained in the EXIF data of the raw file itself is actually correct? It appears that it is not. Manually selecting a lens correction profile will not change the EXIF data for the lens. Is the firmware for the camera and lens up to date? You can use EXIFTool to change the lens data in the raw file manually to the correct lens and then see if AP will detect it and automatically apply the correct lens profile. h_d
Hi, You can download ExifTool (Mac or PC) here. It's a command-line utility which doesn't have its own interface and isn't installed in the normal Applications folder. The MacOS version runs from within Terminal and there is a steep learning curve, so if you're not familiar with using the command line then you could upload a RAW file to this forum and others may be able to help to read the EXIF information. An example of ExifTool returning lens data: Cheers, H Quote Affinity Photo 2.5.3, Affinity Designer 2.5.3, Affinity Publisher 2.5.3, Mac OSX 14.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel. walt.farrell
The lens info as reported in the EXIF information for the file must match the value in the LensFun database, or the profile cannot be correctly auto-selected. So you need to investigate what the EXIF data says, and what the LensFun data says. If the auto-selection is not working properly then there must be some mismatch. If you supply one of your RAW images and tell us which lens you used someone here might be able to do that investigation for you. Ricardo Sandoval
Hi Walt thanks for all this information... Tomorrow I uploaded a photo and you can check this info please I don't understand so much all about exit I tried as other mate in the post said but I don't know if I did well. Other things who could help is that Adobe Camera Raw recognize the lenses as "Rokinon 14mm 2.8 FE” who is the other name for Samyang lenses.... walt.farrell
For Samyang 14mm f2_8.ARW the file EXIF data that seems relevant is Lens Type : E-Mount, T-Mount, Other Lens or no lens Lens Spec : E 14mm F2. Lens Mount : E-mount Lens Type 3 : Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 or Samyang AF 35mm F2.8 Lens Type 2 : Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 or Samyang AF 35mm F2.8 Lens ID : Samyang AF 35mm F2.8 Make : SONY Camera Model Name : ILCE-7M3 Photo identifies it by the Lens ID as SAMYANG AF 35MM F2.8. The Lensfun database has two entries that are similar, but that do not match: <model>Samyang 14mm f/2.8 AE ED AS IF UMC</model> One entry is for a cropfactor of 1, the other for 1.523. But note that that AF is missing. -------- For Samyang 85mm f1_4.ARW: Lens Type : E-Mount, T-Mount, Other Lens or no lens Lens Spec : E 85mm F1.4 Lens Mount : E-mount Lens Type 3 : Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 Lens Type 2 : Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 Lens ID : Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 Make : SONY Camera Model Name : ILCE-7M3 The strange thing about this one is that you have said it's an 85mm lens, and the Lens Spec field says 85mm, but the camera/lens is reporting the lens type and ID as a 35mm lens. The only entry in the lensfun database for a similar lens is this one: <model>Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC</model> <!-- This model is really only available for Nikon. For the other brands, the 35/1.4 may have different characteristics. --> Note that the model name does not match (which means that Photo won't find it) but also that this lens is only for a Nikon camera. Result: Basically, both lenses are unknown to Lensfun, and you need to either wait for them to calibrate them and add them to their database, or you need to calibrate them yourself and provide the information to Lensfun for inclusion in their database. The Lensfun website has information about how to ask them to do the calibration, or how to calibrate them yourself. kirkt and Ricardo Sandoval 2 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
