Nazario
I hope this is ok by forum rules, if not my apologies. Im trying to open this AI file but CS6, Affinity Designer nor any online AI converters seem to work. I believe its been created in a much newer version of Illustrator but Im not sure that the file may also be corrupt as even EPS and PDF version I've been given won't open in any of the above applications. Would someone be so kind as to convert it to a Designer format and post back here? It would be very much appreciated. 10x13-poly-mailer-template.ai
markw
It opened fine on my Mac. Nazario
Strange I've tried on two different macs and two different MAcOS versions. Nothing will open it but then I don't have the latest Adobe CS so I'm guess that is the problem. Really appreciate your help.
R C-R
@Nazario, when you say it won't open, do you mean you get an error of some kind or just that the document looks empty, as if there is nothing in it? I ask because when I open it in AD on my Mac, initially everything is in a "(Layers)" container layer type named "Instructions" but that layer's visibility is turned off, so nothing is visible. Ticking the visibility checkbox for that layer reveals its contents. It's quite unlikely that it requires any Adobe CS version being installed to open your .ai in Affinity. What happens exactly if you try to open it in Affinity? An error message? Nazario
DOH! Haha yes it was the layers unticked! My bad. Because the PDF and EPS they supplied also did the same thing I thought the original was corrupt. I guess the layers turned off are honoured in the PDF and EPS too upon export. I better tell them as its probably caught a few others out too as its a publicly available download. Thank guys.

Now it sounds irritating that you say the file could not be opened. Did you not see the file being opened in a window with the file name in its title bar ? Nazario
Apologies Thomaso. Bad choice of wording on my part. The file technically opened but was showing (at least i thought) no information, it was a completely blank page. Even MacOS quicklook, the PDF and the EPS the company provided all did the same thing so I was a little stumped. I've contacted the company and they said they will be changing the files that are available for download so thanks to you guys and my oversight this will be fixed for many people going forward. :)

Didn't Affinity show the file's content preview already in its open dialog? Also the layers panel shows obviously content. Both makes me wonder what made you say the file did not open. Xzenor
Same here on windows without any adobe software installed. Entirely blank because the layer is turned off.. I would've overlooked it too if not for @R C-R's comment about the visibility Quote Windows 10 Pro Intel Core i7-4770 3.40Ghz 16 GB RAM Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 Samsung EVO 850 SSD
