workflow question...

Hello, assuming I need  to remove all the branches from this example (see screenshot) leaving intact only the background snow and the fence, which would be the best way to do it?

Wow! you don’t set yourself simple tasks do you… I would have to say that this is an almost impossible task and get it to look natural but I would have to say overlaying a snow pic on the majority of the branches below the fence, in-between the fence and also above the fence would be a way to go then you only have to deal with the branches bridging the fence.

Is there more of this image?

Sometimes you have to know when to scrap an idea and move on, this also teaches you to take more images and also reference images and images that can be used to composite an image so taking a shot of nearby snow that is unhindered by objects can also help. In all honesty I’d scrap this idea and make a note to find a better position to take the image you want at a later date. Good images take thought and planning and this image is an aid to that process.

Depending on what is acceptable looking for your purposes, you might be able to do this using the AP Clone Brush plus maybe some additional work with the Inpainting or other retouching brushes, but it would be extremely tedious, require painting with lots of tiny brushes on small areas of the photo at a time & a bunch of trial & error experimentation ... & it probably would not end up looking very realistic anyway.

I spent about 30 minutes experimenting with using those brushes as sort of a 'proof of concept' exercise, but I did not tackle the most difficult areas. This is as far as I got:

@R C-R look’s great.  It’s possible to select similar snow using rectangular tool, size, copy & paste between fence open spaces, covering branches. That leaves the boards, Stamp tool.

Thanks, but it is not really as good as it might seem, partially because I uploaded a JPEG & its lossy compression obscures a lot of flaws that would otherwise be obvious.

Thank you and that you for all of you for your idea. I basically used the tools suggested but I was may be hoping in the impossible. On the other side there is always time for mistakes and practice that can be the master of perfection.

Here are the original and one finished ? (never!) version.

PS: I tried to upload images but I got the warning -200. What is that I do not know. Any idea?

Before the forum upgrade an error code 200 meant the image was too big - try reducing the width of the image to 2000px and upload again

Ok, 2000px or less seems to work.
