double-click word selection skips the first word.. sometimes

Recommended Posts

I have a habit of double-clicking a word (to select it all) but holding the mouse button down and dragging over subsequent words to select a few of them (let's say I want to italicize).

Double-clicking the word then dragging ensures I don't miss a letter or only get part of the word in a selection.

BUG:

If I double-click then drag to the right, then down to the next line, everything is fine.

BUT

If I double-click then drag to the left, then down to the next line, the first word becomes un-highlighted.

I've attached a short video to show what happens. The word to watch is 'mark' which is what I start each selection with

Yikes, that would be annoying. I use that trick often as well.

Side note: I'm also used to triple-clicking to select a whole paragraph, which also works in Publisher. But I've had to untrain myself from triple-click-drag and moving the cursor up or down to select whole batches of paragraphs. This is because Publisher moves the paragraph text instead of adding to the selection. I wish there was a way to disable that so it matches the behaviour od the double-click-drag.

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Double-click word selection sometimes omits the original word) of the program in the latest release.

The fixes and how to update are described in these forum posts.

We would appreciate you checking that this issue has now been resolved for you.
