garrettm30
If there is a font in use that is missing, you can search for it by name. In the following test, I turned off the font "Bitter" and then opened a document that used it. Now I can do a search by format and find it. Notice that it is in italics at the bottom of this list (not sure why it is there three times): Also, there is a new font category "Missing fonts":
MikeW
But...I do believe this new function is either not working as (I would) expect(ed) or isn't finished. Here's why. 4 font family. 1 paragraph using the regular style. Formatted some words in italics, bold and bold italic. Saved the document and exited. Turned off the bold and bold italic. Reopened the document. If I set the drop-down to Missing fonts, it doesn't list the font styles, the bold/bold italic versions at all. I understand I can go about a replacement differently. thomaso
Thank you, Garett. – I get 3 Interesting, slightly confusing results: 1) I see a tripple entry at the end of the font list's upper section, too, – but my 'Arial' is definitely not a missing font: 2) I get the missing font shown in this list only when filtering with the pulldown menu to the right: 3) I have this missing font search menu option already in current retail v. 1.7.3: macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

Not proper listings in my opinion. For the Name column, it should list the variant used. For instance, Two Italic listing. The missing variant should be listed as Bold Italic. The missing MKW Portes Regular should be listed as MKW Portes Bold. At least they are not listed as per say QXP, ID, etc. Which brings up another issue I've disliked. Choosing a replacement is immediate and permanent. One needs to do a ctrl+runup and clear any even accidental replacement. I don't like this behavior. This seems to be rather a general application setup then a document font selection (as the menu "Document" might sound). If I change a substitution I may close the .afpub without saving it, and still have the change when reopening it. – "By design", or forgotten when programming? I assume as long there is no real document related "Replace Font" feature (like "Replace resource") this font "Substitution" option will be a interim substitute only. macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
