missedbeat Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 A user on Twitter reporting Importing of InDesign files in Beta working well and achieved by simply selecting Open and then selecting an .indd file. I am unable to import as all .indd files are greyed out in the Open finder on Mac. I am using latest version of Beta. Has anyone else had this issue and, more importantly, how was it resolved!? Quote
mac_heibu Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 *.indd files don’t work and won’t work in the future. You have to export your InDesign files using the IDML format. Jon P 1 Quote
missedbeat Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Thank you, got excited when a user was complimenting Affinity on being able to import InDesign files! Guess will have to keep that Adobe subscription going for a little longer. Quote
mac_heibu Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 … but IDML files ARE InDesign files! nicolasfolliot and Pšenda 2 Quote
missedbeat Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Agreed, its just that several years worth of files are saved as .indd and will need to re-save as IDML before I can stop the Adobe account!! Quote

Make sure to get a hold of the script to batch convert many INDD files to IDML https://redokun.com/resources/batch-convert-idml-file nicolasfolliot 1 Quote

Joachim_L Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Idml import is a feature of the 1.8 beta version. Quote ------ Windows 10 | i5-8500 CPU | Intel UHD 630 Graphics | 32 GB RAM | Latest Retail and Beta versions of complete Affinity range installed
