Slotcar Bob
I'm moving from PS6 because of a lot of reasons. AP seems to be the best option. But one thing has me perplexed. How to resize a selection. PS6 made this quite simple. Sorry my learning curve is high right now. I'm even flustered. Can someone step-by-step with me to explain how I select an object, and then resize it by dragging? Thanks for any assistance. (BTW, is the "Help" file as bad as I think it is, or is that just me?) Staff DWright Posted November 1, 2019 Staff Share Posted November 1, 2019 To adjust the size of your selection from the Select menu use the Grow/Shrink Selection tool to adjust the size of your selection
markw
Hello Slotcar Bob and welcome to the Affinity forums Another option is once you have defined your selection area, is to switch to the Move tool and then click on the Quick Mask button in the top Toolbar. You will now have a red overlay on your work and a blue box with control nodes around you selection. Use this blue box and/or the Transform panel to re-scale, rotate, move, etc… your selection. When done toggle the Quick Mask button off again. mykee 1 Quote macOS 12.7.6 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M

If you mean a layer object (like a pixel layer, a vector shape, or the like) select it with the Move Tool & either drag any of its bounding box handles or change its width and/or height values in the Transform panel. It is the top tool in the panel on the left. It looks like a short arrowhead pointing to 10 o'clock. John Quote Windows 11, Affinity Photo 2.4.2 Designer 2.4.2 and Publisher 2.4.2 (mainly Photo). Like all the other tools the Move Tool is in the Tools panel. If you hover the mouse pointer over any of the tools in the panel, after a delay a "Tooltip" will pop up with its name & its keyboard shortcut (if it has one). Tip: if you are new to the app you may find it helpful to set the Tooltip delay to shorter than the default. To do that, open the AP preferences window (in the same way you would for any other app), select "User Interface" from the choices (that is for Macs, may be different for Windows) & move the "Tooltip Delay:" slider to the left. Restart the app as instructed. After you become more familiar with the UI you change change it to a longer delay if you want. Slotcar Bob
OK, I got the right tool. But, there are "X's" on the corners and centers, and instead of resizing, the give a blue box that does nothing. I think I have a layer problem. Maybe not "pixel" or whatever. Can I make the change to fix that? Thank you all so much.

Most appreciated.OK, Thank you all so much.
