uncle808us Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Is there a way to get a drop shadow on text in Affinity Photo? If so how? Quote Mac MacBook Pro 15 in. OS X 10.9.5, Mid 2012 456.77 GB Affinity Design and Photo.
uncle808us Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 I did it with a copy of the text and blur. Quote Mac MacBook Pro 15 in. OS X 10.9.5, Mid 2012 456.77 GB Affinity Design and Photo.
evtonic3 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Go to the effects panel that is next to layers panel, use outer shadow. Ski and xeracon 2 Quote
uncle808us Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Got it thanks. I'm slowly learning somethings are a lot different than gimp. But they all seem to be there somewhere. :) Quote Mac MacBook Pro 15 in. OS X 10.9.5, Mid 2012 456.77 GB Affinity Design and Photo.

Staff MEB Posted May 1, 2017 Staff Posted May 1, 2017 Hi devonphotography123, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Go to menu View ▸ Studio and check Layers panel. There's also a command there to reset the Studio on the bottom if needed. Let me know if you still have trouble. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
rllawrencejr Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I would like to see a drop shadow option in the effects panel. It is something that I use often. drako 1 Quote

Lucas 1955 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I tend to agree with PeggyJS, it is not the same... Use Bevel and Emboss as effect, then you can adjust the light direction so the shadows do not go out on every side. Took me some time to figure it out too. Quote
Staff MEB Posted August 26, 2021 Staff Posted August 26, 2021 Hi @Lucas 1955, Welcome to Affinity Forums Unless i'm misunderstanding something, you can use the Offset control to set the distance of shadow to the object and the Angle control to set the direction of the shadow. Only if you don't set these controls the shadow spread equally to all sides. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Ron P. Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I think what @Lucas 1955is referring to is where the shadow is like this... Staff MEB Posted August 26, 2021 Staff Posted August 26, 2021 Hi @Ron P. Thanks. I was already suspecting that's what the user was looking for and was just waiting for some feedback. That type od effect is typically known as a cast shadow or long shadow and it's not available in Photo (other than building it manually). Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Hendreforgan Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I use watermarked titles, words, etc. in a huge amount of the images I send for upload. In the v1 of AF this could be done easily within the layers panel but on moving to V2 the whole "Drop Shadow" for text seems to have become a major task in itself . . it's sadly impacted my productivity. The best help I can see is this : https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/185316-affinity-photo-2-text-drop-shadow/#findComment-1078608 Cannot understand why something that worked was "fixed"?
