  1. Hi, I purchased photo 1.5.0.45 at lunchtime today, and am using it on a Dell Latitude E5420, Intel® Core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz, 8GB Ram, 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor. Using brushes is currently near impossible as there is a 5 to 6 second delay between touching a brush to the 'paper' and the paint starting to flow. (Same results when using mouse or tablet.) What happens is that the program draws a straight line from where the brush touched the paper to where the brush is after the 5 or 6 seconds when you stop the brush from moving. If you then continue to move the brush it applies paint as expected. This process is repeated for each stroke of the brush. I did not have this issue with the Beta version so it's frustrating to come across it in the purchased version. I hope that you can suggest or find a fix for me. I can spend a little time on this if you need me to try some actions or provide other information (but this is limited by other commitments). Thanks and Regards....
  2. Im on Photo 1.5.0 which is AWESOME! BUT I have an 18mb image with various filter layers, .afphoto format which previous version of photo handled easily - I can open the file but it really slows down to a crawl, if I try merge down or save as jpeg I see beachball on merge and an unmoving progress bar for save, I tried waiting 35 minutes for a save - still empty progress bar so had to force quit - I'm on el Capitan 2009 Macbook pro, gb ram, ssd and previously everything was speedy I've tried opening up the file in Designer and saving a jpeg and It's been attempting to save for about five minutes, still with no progress on the bar - I'm guessing I can't open the file in an earlier version to work on?
  3. Hi Everybody, I've imported my custom brushes from Photoshop, but they lag a lot when using them in Affinity Photo. It takes a good 5-7 seconds before my mark appears, even just a single click. I'm not using a tablet, just a mouse. My brushes tend to be large (2000px), but nothing that PS couldn't handle. Any ideas? I thought about turning off the brush preview, but I need it to see where I'm laying down my marks. Thanks!
  4. I just downloaded a trial of Affinity Designer for Mac in hopes of using it as an alternative to Illustrator. The first thing I did was open an Illustrator file, and Designer is unbearably, unusably slow. Every click spins the beachball for 5-10 seconds, sometimes just moving the mouse spins the beachball. I went to export a PNG, and the whole thing just hung for probably a solid minute while I guess it was calculating the file size? My MBP sounded like a jet ready for takeoff by the time it was done. This is on modern hardware: early 2015 MBP with 8GB RAM. Am I doing something terribly wrong? I had read that Affinity was really fast, but for me it's unusably slow. I was just going to uninstall it and move on, but figured I'd at least ask for help first. Thanks.

    Useless :(

After the last update designer become useless to me. 1. Only starts in the second attempt, means that it stays with the logo on the screen doing nothing and need to be closed and only afterwards does star, does this each time not each session. 2. doesn't remember docking or screen position. 3. Layers don't load mostly of the time. 4. Custom keyboard shortcut to send to back doesn't work, it does work the one for sending to front. 5. Paragraph tools doesn't work always sometimes does some don't, of course i mean with the same paragraph. 6. Many times does crash when listing fonts. Since updated to El Capitan Fireworks crashes very often and Adobe is not going to update that, you are my hope, but i do work with it, need to trust the app, and I can't even use it now, I remember Corel being the best tool fail on mac. I do really need your app as there's no other choice in the market and you are making a good job on it, but please make it stable and serious. Next time about Photo. MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) OS 10.11.2 (15C50) 2,4 GHz Intel Core i7 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 1Tb SDD HD AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB
  6. I have a MBP 13" mid 2009 with 8GB RAM running OSX El Capitan, and I can't use Affinity Design 1.3.5 because each 5 seconds the cursor turns in Spinning Wait Cursor. Then I can't do anything in this program. I believe that AD can be a Illustrator Killer... but I can't understand why too low in my machine. I trying to resolve duplicate fonts ( I see this tip in another topic ). But not work for me. Any Help ?!
  7. Were the minimum system specs changed for the final release of AP? One of the reasons I purchased it was because it's supposed to be fast and able to handle certain processes in real time. That's not been my experience at all. I tried developing a RAW file and for every button I pressed, AP was a good 3-5 seconds behind. It's been like this since the evening I bought it. I given it a few days and I even exited every other program I had running and restarted my comp - same result. I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro with 8GB Ram and OSX Yosemite. Is there an option I may have missed in preferences or something? As it stands now, the program is completely unusable to me. I'm willing to try different things because I think there's great potential here and I would prefer to keep it, but not if it runs like this. Any help would be immensely appreciated.
  8. Greetings to the forum, I've been using the trial versions of both Designer and Photo until yesterday when I purchased both full versions .. INCREDIBLY AWESOME replacements to the big cumbersome apps of the past. But .. I have a question. I'm using Designer to work on a .pdf file which has now been saved as an .afdesign file, and there are 'many many' layers. The program felt a little slow while I was doing a move, and Designer locked up fo a while ... so while waiting I checked in my Activity Monitor to see whether I was running out of RAM (6 total, only using 4, not ideal but not bad), then did a terminal: "top -n 10 -o cpu" to see how busy the CPU was .. I saw that no matter what was going on, Affinity Designer was never using more than 100%, which was a little ODD .. I have an 8 core 2008 Mac Pro, which while admittedly old, usually shows most programs using 500 or 600% when they start to get thirsty for processing power like this. I'd like to know if Designer is able to use multiple CPU cores, and if so, what's going on with my setup? (EDIT: Just noticed that sometimes it uses more than one core (saw some 455% here and there), but when it's doing a big move of curves, Designer only uses 1 core .. does this make sense?) I have a Mac Pro 3,1 2 x 2.8 ghz Quad-Core Xeon .. running the latest of ElCapitan 10.11.1 I only have 6 gigs of 800 mhz DDR2 installed as they're crazy expensive still due to all the cooling and mac certification etc.
  9. Heya, Have anyone else noticed that Affinity Designer and Photo gets slow and laggy after couple of hours of working with the programs? I first thought that there must be something with my MacBook Pro and after some hours the RAM is somehow blocked or full and every operation, mouse click, drag, pull etc is starting to lag more and more. But now that I'm using AD with a completely different Mac I notice the same behaviour. What can cause this? Is anyone else suffering from this habit that the programs have?
  10. I just downloaded Affinity Designer and I'm kindve shocked by how slow it's acting. Everything from zooming in and out to dragging the artboard to moving small pngs. Everything chugs. I have a brand new 2015 top of the line Macbook Pro. This can't possibly be normal behavior. Help.
  11. Again, I am a veteran Photoshop user who is desperately trying to get weaned of PS and start using AP exclusively. But the speed of AP's "Refine Selection" is just terrible. Any adjustment is followed by about 3 seconds of waiting on my 3.06GHz iMac. And yet on the same iMac, PS's "Refine Edge" features work instantly, with no delay at all. Change Feather, Smoothness, etc. It doesn't matter. PS is instantaneous while AP gives a progress bar. This seems to be related to the same slowness we see with the Export Calculations. These things need to be instantaneous, and on our modern machines, there is no reason they should not be, especially when they are instantaneous in Photoshop. Thanks.
  12. Hi, my name's Fred. I'm a Creative Director in french webagency. I'm a new user and I like affinity. I hope it will be as strong as Fireworks for webdesign. The question is : Can we optimize the openning time of the font selector ? I use it a lot, I like the direct preview on the canvas, but of course i don't like waiting each time I want to apply another font. I'm open to new workflow too like keyboard shortcuts, panel ... Here is a link to a video so you can see the trouble : http://cl.ly/3t142t3d0P1W/affinity-font-selector.mov Ha! ... and I start with some shapes and gradients just to show you that's it's not because of my computer ;) Thanks in advance ----- 2 x 2,26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 6 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB OS X 10.9.5
  13. Hey guys, loving the new program or app as it's clued nowadays, but while testing it out the brush tool is very slow and laggy, with the mouse and even more with my intros 4.
