  1. I cant work out how to import a photo into affinity photo. ?? Also, I use adobe bridge and camera raw as I am photojournalist. How can one batch process and Copyright etc etc. WE NEED A PROPER MANUAL!!!!!!
  2. Hello everyone! I would like to know what AP is doing with RAW photos which are going through a batch job. There is a quite obvious difference between a RAW photo that is converted as a single photo through the develop persona and a RAW photo that is converted via a job batch. My workflow for single photos: Preferences: 32bit working space: sRGB (linear) Develop assistant: RAW engine: Apple RAW output: 32bit Tone curve: take no action Develop. Export as 16bit half float Open EXR with ZIP compression For the batch job: add the RAW photo Save as Open EXR 16bit half float ZIP compression. I would expect that the results are matching, but obviously they are not. Could anyone explain that to me? Thanks, Sönke
  3. I've always wanted to do timelapses and I've done quite a few before - but in all of them I've shot in jpeg and without any editing I'm preparing to do a night timelapse of stars at one of our national parks Most guides on the internet recommend shooting in RAW so that I can get the best look from the stars and night sky But as users of Affinity Photo know - there's no way to do batch edits on RAW files using Affinity photo So can I get a good timelapse if I shoot in JPEG? Or should I shoot in RAW and spend days in editing the RAW files? (3 minutes per photo, 600 photos - that's 30 hours of total editing time) Any advice?
  4. I noticed that when I do my first level edit in Canon's DPP 4.5 and save it Affinity still opens the original image. It is a bit annoying and the only way to capture those edits is to convert the image to JPG and then edit in Affinity. The problem is every conversion means loss of image quality. Is there a way around this?
  5. Hi how do you edit 5 raw images at once. I hope you understand the question my english is not too good. Jørn
  6. Hello There are pictures that recorded jpeg and raw at the same time in Apple Photos. Do not you know how to open Apple Photos raw files from Affinity Photo? Thank you.
  7. For me this is a "must be" feature for Affinity Photo. When I have for example 1000 raw's to develop one by one this app is unusable now I need to use another programs. I am sure that most of Affinity Photo users will want this feature badly.
  8. It would be great if there was the ability to Import and Export custom RAW presets, with .ACR presets not being compatible due to the different systems.
  9. Hey all, Photo continues to ruin my RAW images. I just want to make girl look pretty but as soon as I open an image like this in Photo it just ruins the coloring of her outfit :( Pay attention to her top, it is nice and white on the left image, ruined blue on the right. NO EDITS are made to the right image. Why!?!? Thanks, Shaw
  10. Hi again, I'm finding the developing process to be really time consuming and I have a deadline to meet for some photos I took Here's how I've been doing things: Open RAW file (6000 by 4000 pixels, 20MB average) - takes 25-30 seconds Apply presets for each category - basic, details and tone curve if needed) - total of 10-20 seconds Make any further changes that the preset didn't cover - like white balance - 1 minute Develope - this takes 3-4 minutes After develop it's in photo persona - go to export - takes 10-20 seconds depending on whether I want to crop anything or not So on average I'm taking 5-7 minutes to finish off a RAW file and move to the next one I have 500 photos to work through - so that can be 2500-3500 minutes - that's like working 6-8 hours per day for week or more How can I make the workflow go faster? To say less than 2 minutes?
  11. while I'm editing photos using develop persona, I sometimes don't know if the edit change I've done has been applied fully or is still being applied For example, I change the noise reduction slider while I've zoomed into the picture, I wait and see no change so I try again and then the change becomes more than it should be since both changes have now been applied If there was a progress bar or something to indicate that the chaange has been effected fully, then a least I can move on to the next edit knowing that up to that point it is satisfactory We also could use a progress bar when the photo is being developed - sometimes I'm just waiting for minutes for the develope photo dialog box to disappear so that I can continue with exporting the image Can these be included in the next update?
  12. Version 1.5.0.39 When I do the following open a RAW file change some basic settings in the "Develop" persona apply changes by clicking "Develop" save the file as "afphoto" file end the session start a new session open the previously saved "afphoto" file change to the "Develop" persona then all sliders show "0%"?! I attached two screen shots. The first shows the settings that I've made in the "Develop" persona, the second shows the positions of the sliders after re-opening the file. Well, the photo itself shows my changes, but I cannot see, what I did in the last development session...
  13. Have just purchased a Panasonic LUMIX fz2000 and can only use Panasonic's 'SilkyPics' to process the RAW files. 'SilkyPics' 'Help' is written in Japanese English and is to say the least tedious, so I would love to use Affinity Photo. Is there a schedule for this RAW codec?
  14. hi there. i'm a pro-photographer. i decided Affinity photo is good enough to work in my field after i had watched many tutorial videos. however, during testing trial of this app, i found 2 of the big problems for me. first, when i open raw up, it takes about 20~30 secs by just only one RAW.(at photoshopcc, it took just 2secs to do open it) i can't endure it seriously because i usually import at least 200 of RAW files at once. first, during development RAW, reaction of image is too slow. here is my circumstance. RAW : d810's 14bit cRAW computer : Macbook pro 2015 early 13" 256ssd with 8gb ram / using lowest monitor resolution performance option : check out all of options and set it for best speed. and order using about 6gb ram, 20 history is it normal to take long time to open raw? thanks.
  15. I used Affinity Photo to convert three raw files to afphoto files. I then tried to create an HDR image by adding the three .afphoto files, but none of them would show up in the add dialog. Two questions: are .afphoto files really not supported for HDR merge? if the answer to 1 is true, what is a good workflow to go from raw to HDR? - DavidP
  16. Dear all, I am very happy to see AFFINITY so much advanced since my last trial. As we all know, right now there's no good RAW-converter for the FUJIFILM GFX 50S RAF files. Affinity 1.5.2 is opening the files and one can do adjustments - Unfortunately the image is shifted to the left side by some 400 px or so. How fast can this be fixed? Knowing this will be vital to many of us deciding to buy the software. Best Regards, Peter
  17. Is it possible to see multiple images, in a thumbnail format within the develop mode? Very challenging just seeing one image at time, or am I missing something?
  18. hi affinity, Noticed this morning that my fuji raf files from my xt2 are not loading with fuji in camera lens correction - is this something that could be addressed or has it been reviewed already? I understand fuji apply lens corrections in camera... Got the shock of my life looking at my out of camera .raf files compared to out of camera .jpegs!!!
  19. Other than exhibiting a preview for DNG raw files, when opening a file for processing, there is no preview picture displayed in AP dialog. I have tested PEF (Pentax), and RAF (Fuji) files. I also checked and found my cameras shown on the camera list posted on the Affinity site. My question is basically if this is a temporary situation, or a problem with my AP installation. Given that when trying to load a RAW image, I have time to pour a cup of coffee, before it renders, I am hoping that some attention to this situation is being addressed by the developers. This software seems to be on the cusp of being more than superior. Any one experiencing the above? (couldn't locate this subject on the forum)
  20. This may be an odd question coming from someone who has been active in digital photography since 1997, but can someone please explain what the difference is, and why it is necessary/desirable, to first manipulate a RAW image in the Develop persona, when it can be placed directly into the Photo persona and manipulated there in what appear to be many of the exact same ways? Thanks!
  21. Dear community, I am facing some problems with some RAW files that have high light exposure and get some tendency for the sky to burn out. When I open the RAW file in Affinity Photo develop persona (v.1.5.1 Mac) I get some purple skies I do not get when opening the file with Apple preview or Photoshop. Also the ready made JPEG does not show any purples in the sky. Are there any adjustments that can be done to fix this problem? I am using Panasonic Lumix GX 80 / GX 85 / GX 7 Mark II however it is called in different countries. See the screenshots below in the upper left corner. Thanks !
  22. hi, im so sorry if its a simple fix but any help would be appreciated. what i liked doing on my mac was to review images on a full screen, since down loading affinity it loads up the images and i can no longer flick through very large images to choose from. thank you
  23. Hello, I hope this is solved now also the problem of slow opening of RAW (NEF) files in Windows 10.
  24. Raw photos are coming through as purple when i attempt to edit them using the latest version of affinity on windows 10, I originally had hoped it would be fixed with this update but it has unfortunately not. I am at a bit of a loss as to how to approach this particular issue. I've attached a screenshot and the jpg the camera saved with the file. I can't upload the DNG as they're 23.8mb which is too large to upload to the forum directly.
  25. Hi, Is there a reason why my Raw images open as 96 DPI instead of 300 DPI say like in PS? Why is it reducing the res on import? Thanks in advance!
