Reducing image size?
OldHickory30 replied to OldHickory30's topic in Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Some great comments, however, I photograph for the best and highest quality image possible, which is why I use a 100+mp 16bit camera, color paper, profiles and bit ratio, is all important, it's what my clients demand and not looking to debate the reasoning. Having said that that, I just want to merely bump down the file size slightly, while keeping all intact, since my printer can not accept anything over 500mb on the server, and based on the feedback it doesn't appear such a feature exists, as of yet. Find it interesting, White Wall allows for up to 2gig files. -
Reducing image size?

Appreciate that however, will that not affect the physical dimensions? I need to leave physical dimensions intact, while keeping the DPI @ 300dpi and yes these are 8bit although I do use 16bit sometimes. Again, that was a feature I used often in PS could drop the file size by 10% without affecting the file config. Not sure what it did to the file but it wasn't noticeable and the print quality wasn't affected. -
So in PS, one can reduce an image via percentage as an option, lets say 10% that will take off a couple hundred megabytes with affecting the overall configuration of the image, is there such an option in Affinity, without affecting the overall size - pixels et?. Example I have an image I want as a 5:4 ratio in tiff, croped perfectly, needs to be a tiff no layers, however the size comes in at almost 800mb and I cannot exceed 500mb. Simple in PS, but no desire to go down that rabbit hole again, however I have about 50 images that I need to downsize.

File Size AP vs PS?

What I wanted to see whether there was any difference in size, without touching any adjustments coming straight from RAW, almost a 1 gig difference blew me away. Anyway I'll try your way as well. -
File Size AP vs PS?
OldHickory30 replied to OldHickory30's topic in Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
When I compare the very large files side by side, seems the PS file has smoother details, better tonality. However haven't really compared many images. -
Curious, why would there be such a size difference after exporting from Photoshop, compared to Affinity? Seems that PS is always 40-90% larger. I processed two files 16bit w/ no extra layers, a tiff - native size. PS was 1.9gb and Affinity 1.08gb Thats almost a gig in difference. I've tried other configurations, same thing, PS is always much way larger with no compression. Feels like I'm loosing something in Affinity or PS is adding something within the algorithm. After 20+ years of using PS, I'm not a fan, but I am curious.

What is the easiest way to export an image without layers? In PS it was pretty simple, export without layers. On issue I'm also having which is probably somewhat related, when exporting to a certain size typically my images are close 200mb , considering my RAWs are 210mb. Problem is many labs will not take images over 100mb, which I think is insane.

Very nice, especially since you were working with a screenshot. I'll give those options a a shot on my end. Thanks! -
Trying to remove this reflection of myself in the doorway, in the lower left. Coming from PS I tried similar tools with terrible results, suggestions? I know, don't stand in the doorway.😐
